Get your Chromebook and click on the following link. Read and answer the questions at the end.

2.  Whole Class - Fitness ASAP (20 minutes)

Complete a fitness ASAP

3.  Collaborative - (40 minutes)

  • Get a partner that will help you complete the Back Exercise Circuit.
  • With your partner complete all seven exercises in the circuit three (3) times.
  • Watch the instructional video on how to perform all the exercises.

4.  Independent - (15 minutes)

Once you have complete everything for the day. Review the key concepts and vocabulary from the last few weeks by following this link.

5. Differentiated Instruction (15 minutes)

  • Once you have completed the independent practice you are going to find a workout to do for the remainder of class. Choose only one workout and complete it entirely.
  • Go to this website: http://darebee.com/ and select a workout routine from the first two pages.

6.  Closure/Exit Ticket - (10 minutes)

Make this assignment as done, 18.1 Healthy Back and Good Posture

Log off Chromebook. Turn in and plug in device in correct place.

1.  Do Now - (25 minutes)

Today you are going to begin your writing project. Your project will be to create 3 of the following items: presentation (slides or prezi), brochure (2 or 3 panel), a PSA video, a PSA infographic/poster, or a research essay.

Today’s goal is to gather your information. You are going to decided on one of the diseases that we talked about that are hypokinetic conditions.

Regardless of what project you choose, they each need to have the following:

  1. Name of disease,
  2. Description of the disease,
  3. What is the rate at which people suffer from it (how many people have it or die from it per year),
  4. How people get it,
  5. How we can prevent it with physical activity (and nutrition).

2.  Whole Class - (15 minutes)

Step one - choose a condition that you would like to present on. Here are some possible choices for diseases/conditions that you may choose. This list however, is not a complete list.

  • Heart Disease
  • Atherosclerosis
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes (Type II)
  • Hypertension
  • Obesity
  • Osteoporosis
  • Cancer (only certain types, check carefully)
  • Back Pain (Lordosis, Kyphosis, Ptosis)
  • Arthritis (only certain types, ch)
  • Depression
  • Activity Neurosis
  • Overuse Injuries

Step two - Research!

Create a Google Doc where you will collect all of your research (if you’re in a group, create one document and share it with everyone in the group). To create a new Drive item, click Add. Under Create, click Doc in the assignment. Be sure to include links to where you got the information. Collect as much information from as many different sources as possible.
