Subject:         TEMPORARY IMPLEMENTATION OF ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES

Pursuant to Executive Order No. 38, Series of 2026, issued by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of General Santos City, which lifted the suspension of classes effective June 18, 2026, and authorized school heads to determine and implement the most appropriate and safest learning delivery modality, Gensantos Foundation College, Inc. (GFI) shall temporarily implement Asynchronous Learning until further notice.

This decision is made in consideration of the safety and welfare of the entire academic community, as some school buildings and facilities are currently undergoing repairs. While instruction will continue through alternative learning modalities, the College remains steadfast in its commitment to providing quality education while ensuring the safety and well-being of its students, faculty, and personnel.

To ensure the orderly, efficient, and effective implementation of asynchronous learning, all students are hereby directed to observe the following guidelines:

1. Class Modality

The College shall temporarily implement Asynchronous Learning as the primary mode of instruction. Learning materials, assignments, assessments, and other academic requirements shall be provided by instructors through the College's official online learning platforms.

2. Limited Face-to-Face Meet-ups

While Asynchronous Learning remains the primary learning modality, limited face-to-face meet-ups, consultations, practical examinations, thesis consultations, research activities, and other essential academic engagements may be conducted within the campus whenever necessary, provided that:

  • The activity and schedule have received prior approval from the College Administration;
  • The assigned venue has been declared safe and available for use;
  • Faculty members and students strictly comply with all existing College policies, safety protocols, and administrative guidelines; and
  • Students are notified in advance regarding the approved schedule, venue, and purpose of the activity.

3. Official Learning and Communication Platforms

The following platforms shall serve as the official channels for instruction, communication, and submission of academic requirements:

  • Gmail – for official communication, notices, and correspondence between faculty and students.
  • Google Classroom – for posting learning materials, assignments, quizzes, announcements, and submission of academic requirements.
  • Google Meet – for virtual consultations, online conferences, or synchronous sessions whenever deemed necessary by the instructor.
  • Zoom – for online meetings, presentations, consultations, or other academic activities as required.
  • Facebook Messenger – for class announcements, reminders, and immediate communication between instructors and students.

Students are advised to regularly monitor these platforms and ensure that their accounts remain active and accessible throughout the implementation of asynchronous learning.

4. Attendance and Participation

Although classes shall primarily be conducted asynchronously, students are expected to:

  • Regularly access the official learning platforms;
  • Complete and submit all assigned learning activities within the prescribed deadlines;
  • Participate in online discussions, forums, or consultation sessions whenever required by the instructor; and
  • Respond promptly to official communications from their instructors.

Student participation shall be monitored through submitted outputs, online activities, discussion forums, quizzes, and other learning tasks.

5. Online Learning Etiquette

To maintain a respectful and productive learning environment, students are expected to:

  • Use their official or real names in all online learning platforms;
  • Observe courtesy, professionalism, and respect in all online interactions;
  • Communicate responsibly with instructors and classmates; and
  • Refrain from posting, sharing, or recording class materials without prior authorization from the instructor.

6. Submission of Academic Requirements

All assignments, quizzes, projects, research outputs, and other academic requirements shall be submitted through Google Classroom or any official platform designated by the instructor on or before the prescribed deadlines.

Students experiencing internet connectivity problems, power interruptions, or other valid technical concerns are encouraged to immediately inform their respective instructors for appropriate consideration.

7. Academic Integrity

Students are expected to uphold the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and responsibility in accomplishing all academic requirements. Any act of cheating, plagiarism, falsification, unauthorized collaboration, or other forms of academic dishonesty shall be dealt with in accordance with the Student Handbook and existing College policies.

8. Health, Safety, and Well-being

Students are encouraged to continue prioritizing their personal safety, health, and overall well-being, especially those affected by the recent earthquake. The College remains committed to providing reasonable academic consideration to students experiencing circumstances arising from the disaster.

9. Effectivity

This advisory shall take effect immediately and shall remain in force until such time that the College buildings and facilities are declared safe and ready for occupancy following the completion of necessary repairs, or until a subsequent advisory is issued by the College Administration.

The Office of Student Affairs and Services enjoin every member of the GFI community to demonstrate resilience, responsibility, cooperation, and commitment to learning as we collectively adapt to these temporary arrangements.

For the information, guidance, and strict compliance of everyone concerned.
