Researching Podcasts/Podcasting. A reference list

Researching Podcasts / Podcasting. A reference list

[short link: podcaststudies.com or tinyurl.com/researchingpodcasts]

Welcome!

This is a collection of (academic) podcast/podcasting research, which I* started in February 2015. To find specific keywords, authors etc. simply use the command strg+f. If you think that something is missing here, you can add suggestions via the comment function or drop me an email: contact@neleheise.de :-)

All the best, Nele

Additional tips: Hot Pod News is a “newsletter about podcasts. [...] news and analysis on the emerging podcast and on-demand audio industry”. Fellow researcher John Sullivan also recommends Podnews by James Cridland, “ a daily newsletter delivered via email with links to breaking news about podcasting [...] and covers podcasting from an international perspective.”

Other regularly updated podcasting sources: the blog Podcaster News (by the podcast hosting company blubrry); Nick Quah’s 1.5x Speed, a column/newsletter focused on productions, market developments and commentary on podcasting culture, including “Podcast recommendations and listening notes”.

* I am an independent digital media and communication researcher, focusing on the German podosphere/podcasting community. For more on my work, please visit my website (www.neleheise.de). Please note that I do not receive any funding for maintaining and updating this list. I believe in sharing knowledge and making this collection available to anyone interested in podcast related research. If you find this resource useful and want to support my work: tell your friends! And should you have a few cents burning a hole in your pocket: you can support my work via PayPal. Thanks and all the best!

International Studies

In this section, studies etc. are displayed that are a) only available in a specific language and/or b) focus on a specific country and/or region. For translation of titles I use Google Translate, i.e. some of the translations might be a bit wobbly. Please note that sometimes the subtitles here refer to broader world regions, in other cases I broke them down to more specific areas which has to do with the way this reference list started out (beginning mainly with research from the US/UK and European countries). However, I am updating the subtitles from time to time to depict the growing research landscape more accurately. Any suggestions are very welcome :-)
