World Flipper Global Release Reroll Guide
Hello, this is underl1ght, JP veteran and moderator of the English World Flipper Discord. In this guide I will look at the 5 stars in depth, a specific 3 star unit, and lastly point out some other notable 4 stars and 3 stars to look out for. Every 5 star I will give a brief explanation and rating at the top and then a more thorough explanation underneath. My ratings will judge them based on how strong they are on release along with in the future. I will also have a notable character timeline so if Kakaogames follows a similar release schedule, you can keep in mind who to look out for.
Disclaimer: Regardless of ratings and star rarity of characters, the best team compositions will have units that are synergistic with one another. This guide also does not teach you how to play the game, check out other guides in the resources section to understand team building more and how damage is calculated.
TL;DR 5 star tier list
Fire
Rating: F tier - Only roll for him if you love him
Wagner on release is definitely memed as one of the weakest characters in the game. He provides mostly powerflip damage support and powerflip lvl 3 combo reduction which can be useful later on. But his skill provides only damage (remember he mostly buffs powerflip damage but not skill damage) and combo count which is very little especially considering his heavy skill weight (650) forcing him to usually be in the leader slot as the carry. He is also bow type which is absolutely awful on AI auto making him only playable in manual and even then outperformed by other options. Also fire powerflip will be underdeveloped up until golem ex class is released (about 2 months). His manaboard 2 in the future makes him much stronger in niche situations.
Rating: B tier - Decent character, will be stronger in future with correct support
Marina on release is pretty mediocre. She provides multiball and powerflip support. Her ability 3 provides an extremely good amount of penetration uptime which will be meta for a long time since one of the strongest initial weapons (malte) requires penetration. But because multiball damage is bad, we will need to wait for golem ex class for more fire powerflip support, Although once Kikuno is released (Lich Ex Class ~ 3 months), you get more multiballs to build up combo for powerflip along with longer penetration uptime. Manaboard 2 in the future also gives Marina a gigantic boost.
Rating: A tier - Strong carry through the early game, falls off later but is also great in the support role.
Clarisse is one of the best fire characters in the game. At release she is a strong DPS character with lots of skill damage on her fireball skill. At the sametime, her fireball applies fire resist down debuff which increases fire damage on the target which means other people in the lobby will also deal more damage to the target. This debuff is an extra damage multiplier which makes Clarisse still relevant as a strong support/2nd dps character when stronger fire skill damage characters get released. Clarisse also fills 80% of her skill gauge at the start and her skill generates a lot of combo making her very useful in teams outside of skill damage such as powerflip.
Water
Rating: B tier - Staple in water for a long time, can be both a strong carry or great support.
Sonia is the best water character for quite a while, up until around the half anniversary. This isn’t saying much though because water is underpowered for a while. Sonia herself doesn’t have a clear archetype but because of her skill she can fit into any water team. Sonia’s skill provides an attack buff for the entire lobby which is very useful and generates a lot of combo. This makes her a strong support character that you can initially place into any team for the buff if you are missing units. The attack buff, huge combo generation, sword lead, and high base attack also makes her a solid powerflip lead despite lacking powerflip buffs. The combo generation is also useful in water direct attack setups along with her extra attack buff duration. She can also be used as a skill damage dealer as her skill does a lot of damage with lots of buffs and is key to oneshotting golem ex the first difficult permanent content we get. Her manaboard 2 is a meme though and water has gotten strong characters in the past 1.5 years which means in the future she does lose her omnipresent status.
Rating: Tier F - Do not roll for unless you love him
Suizen is a meme character. Poison as an archetype in world flipper is very underwhelming until it gets buffed. The buff to poison in the future makes Suizen much better but I doubt global gets it for a long time. Suizen’s other main feature is being tanky, but he doesn’t tank damage for other units unlike the 3 star faf so it’s not that useful either.
Thunder
Rating: D tier - Has her niches later on which you may find useful but nothing too important.
Inaho is kind of a jack of all trades, master of none. She provides decent fever support, decent damage, and paralysis. But all of this stuff can be found on other characters of lower rarity who do it better than Inaho. Rams will outdamage her, Lunalu’s paralysis is much more useful while also applying thunder resist down debuff, and thunder will get very OP fever support in the future that outclasses Inaho heavily. So in the end, the only noticeable thing about Inaho is her skill hits the full screen making her useful in niche situations such as mana dungeon speedrun or needing her for the slightly extra fever generation.
Rating: C tier - Strong healer useful early on, nice to have in the far future.
Cagliostro is a solid thunder healer to help keep you alive in the early game. The problem is, thunder will get a solid 3 star healer in Foula (first new unit banner) and Cagliostro doesn’t really bring much besides survivability which isn’t useful after a few weeks (maybe days depending how tryhard you are). This is especially true in the future as thunder gets insane units in the future with incredible skill damage, skill spam, and even enmity where healing will actively hurt that team comp. I would not roll for Cagliostro besides having an easy early game because she will become very niche quickly.
Wind
Rating: S tier - Meta defining carry throughout the entire game's history.
Silty is arguably one the biggest balance nightmares since World Flipper game release. This is because her skill scales infinitely off combo count making her potentially do infinite damage. Even with wind weapon nerfs being implemented immediately, Silty is still incredibly strong and once Shiue releases along with Lich Ex Class weapons, Silty becomes the manual queen as you can easily maintain combo. Even in auto though, where AI can not reliably keep combo up and may whiff her skill a lot, she is still incredibly strong. Although early game, Phiria is more important with her utility and there are other dps options available such as Soushirou. But as the game progresses, Silty is definitely more valuable and used in any high damage wind teams.
Rating: A tier - Strong healer for early game, relevant for wind float meta for later on.
Phiria is a healer that also grants float buff. Float is a very strong mechanic that gets heavily supported in the future and is also very strong early on. It is especially notable with Silty as float keeps you in the air letting you maintain combo. Again, just like Silty, even with wind weapon nerfs shipped immediately, she is still really strong and will become even more powerful with lich ex class release along with Shiue release. Phiria is also winds' only good healer for a long time (>8 months and event locked character, if missed need to wait even longer) and one of few float buffers making her more valuable than Silty early on. But just reroll for both of them to make your life easier.
Rating: F tier - Do not roll for Leon unless you love him
Leon, similar to Wagner, is pretty memed on release. He is mainly used in powerflip where wind does not get enough support for a long time (Like 9+ months and even then float skill damage is still stronger in almost every case). His manaboard 2 helps him out a bit but the main issue just comes down to wind not being a notably strong powerflip element.
Light
Rating: D tier - Decent light fever carry, but not vital and missing crucial units at launch.
Nephteim on release is decent. She provides solid damage in light fever but there aren't enough units to maintain permanent fever for the strategy to be extremely effective. But once the Christmas banner comes out (first new character banner) with Christmas Inaho, you can make a solid light fever team to clear basically everything outside of ex/hell class bosses. Once half anniversary comes, and Nephteim’s alternate character comes out, you can pair her with her alt to create every co-oper’s most hated team and leech most ex class bosses (although meta for the dark boss). There are more important light units I would go for so I wouldn’t recommend rolling for her.
Rating: S tier - Razelt provides lots of survivability along with damage and is strong in every light composition.
Razelt is one of the best light characters even up till present day in JP. He is a strong support that can tank for the team and at the same time, applies up to 4 buffs that increases team survivability and damage. This includes regeneration which is core in light fever along with buffs being good in light skill damage teams as their carries scale off the number of buffs on them, this makes Razelt useful in any light team. Razelt + Eliya is definitely a very solid option to roll for to clear the early game.
Rating: F tier - Do not roll for Ecreel unless you love her.
Ecreel on the surface looks like a pretty solid character. She gains a lot of attack when maintaining 80% or higher health and gets even more attack when healed. This makes Ecreel strong when paired with Razelt who can both tank all the damage for her and provides a regeneration buff that can quickly stack her ability 2 that needs healing. The only issue is that Ecreel is outclassed by other 4 star light carries such as Eliya or Kira. Attack is a useful modifier to have but it needs to be combined with another damage type (skill, powerflip, direct etc.) for maximum efficiency. Light initially does not have good weapon options for powerflip or direct forcing you to play for skill damage. Both Eliya and Kira have skills that deal much more damage than ecreel along with infinite scaling with buffs and have skill damage modifiers making them much stronger options.
Dark
Rating: C tier - Destroys early game bosses but isn’t useful once higher difficulty bosses come out that require elemental advantaged units.
Belsidia is a strong dark damage dealer that focuses on being below 50% health to deal massive damage. When built correctly, you can make a party that can one shot most of the hard difficulty bosses. There are a few issues though. The first is many people who are not bringing dark teams may have healers, most notably the 5 star healers Cagliostro and Phiria, whom their heals may bring Belsidia above the 50% health threshold making your damage very little and slows down the coop run. On the other hand, there are other 4 star carries (Soushiro for wind, Rams for thunder, etc.) that also have setups that can one shot most of the hard difficulty bosses too. They do not suffer from teammates bringing healers either. Plus when harder difficulty bosses come out, you will need to start bringing elemental advantaged units and the first ex difficulty boss for dark didn’t come out until after the half-anniversary!
Rating: S tier - Gives penetration buff and high attack buffs making him usable in every element.
Veron is incredibly useful for two reasons. He gives a lot of attack damage modifiers and penetration. Penetration is meta early on in world flipper for basically every team because the best weapon on release is malte, which requires penetration to be active. This makes Veron incredibly strong in basically every element as you can put him unison sub to your carry unit which will give a ton of attack along with the ability to use Malte. Ironically, Veron finds less usage in his own element and doesn’t really see much use in his own element for a while, with Belsidia teams outclassing him.
6 Star Sha Susu
The only 6 star character in the game, please try to get her to make your life easier. All jokes aside, even though she is just a 3 star character Sha susu is an incredibly important character in that her skill refills your leader’s skill gauge (with no elemental or cast limitations) allowing you to spam more skills. She also provides a lot of damage buffs. This niche of refilling skill gauge makes her incredibly valuable in team compositions whether it is early game or in the future.
Fire | Bianca 4*Multiple extra damage modifiers | Hanabi 4* Gives full skill gauge to team when leader | Jin 3* Fire Healer, Poison immunity | Enni 3* Extra damage modifier, Full skill gauge, buff strip
Water | Riesel 4* Water Healer | Alice 4* Budget water carry, Float buff | Sharon 4* Water powerflip carry, extra damage modifier | Kaiyu 3* Lots of attack buffs and healing but kills your team faster | Faf 3* Tanks for your team, lots of fire resistance |
Thunder | Rams 4* Thunder skill damage carry | Lunalu 4* Extra damage modifiers, paralysis | Mino 4* Thunder enmity carry | Honey 3* Paralysis, Extra damage modifier, highest base skill damage | Sha Susu 3* Skill gauge refill, Leader buffs |
Wind | Mia 4* Mana slave | Soushiro 4* Wind skill damage carry | Juster 3* Extra damage modifier, paralysis, buff strip | Miu 3* Combo buildup, skill gauge charge, helps Silty aim
Light | Eliya 4* Light skill damage carry | Fin 4* Regeneration and attack buffs | Kira 4* Light skill damage carry, helps Eliya aim | Corina 3* Regeneration buff, Debuff cleanse
Dark | Marianne 4* Extra damage modifier | Rebecca 3* Skill gauge refill, Multiple extra damage modifiers | Faruche 3* Full skill gauge, Enmity damage |
Weapons - Do not pull unless whale
There is also another banner to roll for weapons. Most of these weapons are not needed at all and you should not roll for them unless you are a whale. These weapons will also be fairly underpowered compared to ex class boss weapons until they get their buffs later on into the game's lifespan and even then most are useless. Also, later on in the game, weapon tickets will be given much more often allowing you to pull most of the notable weapons.
I will list the notable weapons to look out for if you do choose to pull. If you do pull, I would recommend just getting the gauge books which are incredibly useful for starting fights with more skill gauge. I would get philebus for thunder team and either Zhan Guo Ce or Book of Lies, with Zhan Guo being a slightly better version of Book of Lies. I will also list 5 star gacha weapons that are used in present day JP server.
Gauge books: Zhan Guo Ce Manuscript , Philebus , Book of Lies
5 star: Tome of Divination , Ukonvasara
Notable Future Units (up to 2nd Christmas)
If you want to save to make sure you get limiteds, I highly recommend at least pulling for Baretta who comes out in the Skyscraper event.
First two new character banners are back to back limiteds with Christmas and New years. I would not recommend chasing units on the Christmas banner although the New Years banner is ok.
Limited units on the first Christmas banner:
Soushirou 5* - meme unit
Marianne 5* - Potentially useful in the far future but never needed
Inaho 5* - Good to pair with Nephteim to have a cheap team to clear all early game content but powercrept later when half anniversary Nephteim releases
Aureo 4* - Used in the first iteration of the fast labyrinth clear teams and that’s it.
Limited units on the first New Years Banner:
Noene 5* - Fire powerflip support and healer, in the future useful to build low combo powerflip builds
Eliya 5* - Decent water skill damage carry, lacks support to noticeably outperform budget teams. Can be useful if you miss out on future key water units.
Luluca 4* - Fire powerflip support unit, useful until she gets powercrept by Baretta.
Rebecca 4*- Wind Fever meme
Yuwel 4* -Poison meme, maybe useful when poison buffs come.
