MEDICAL NEEDS:

(1)  For major, life-threatening Medical situations, dial 9-911 (from EWC on-campus phone)

       Hours:  Open 7 days a week (365 days a year), 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. (The Clinic does not

                     provide Emergency Services.  It does however provide Urgent Care/Walk-In access.)

       Directions:  Take TheBus Route #13 to the corner of Kuhio Ave. & Seaside Ave. Walk one

                            block on Kuhio Ave. to Royal Hawaiian Ave. Then walk toward the ocean on

                            Royal Hawaiian Ave. to the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.  

       Major Hospitals (with Physician Specialists, 24-Hour Emergency Rooms)

Bring your insurance ID card and a picture ID card with you to all medical appointments.  

Note:  If you need to see a physician specialist—e.g., dermatologist, neurologist—and do not know one in Honolulu, the easiest method may be to request a referral from one of the staff physicians at the University Health Services or Straub Doctors On Call.  

DENTAL NEEDS:

Dental Services available to Low-Income Individuals:  

(1)  Kalihi-Palama Health Center – Dental Clinic

       915 North King Street 

       Clinic Location:  At the corner of North King Street & Hikina Lane

       Phone:  845-0686  (for appointments)

       Hours:  Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

          Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  

          Emergency Walk-ins accepted from 7:45 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.  (see Note below)

       Directions:  Take TheBus Route A to Palama St. & walk 1 block on N. King St. to Hikina Ln.

       Cost:  You must bring a picture ID card and evidence of your last 3 months of income such

                   as monthly stipend/pay stubs, current tax return, or bank account statements showing

                   monthly income deposits.  From this information the Clinic will determine

                   the cost of services provided to you.

       Services Provided:  Comprehensive oral exams, cleanings, dentures, infection control,

                                         consultation, basic restorative care (fillings, crowns), urgent care.

                                         In addition, certain oral surgery and root canal therapy, and

                                         referral assistance for specialty care (e.g., wisdom teeth removal,

                                         implants, root canal therapy, braces, periodontal/gum surgery)

       Note:  Emergency “Walk-ins” are accepted for people in pain.  However, you need to

                  arrive by 7:45 a.m. or you will likely be unable to see a dentist that day.

 

(2)  Aloha Medical Mission – Dental Clinic

  810 North Vineyard Boulevard 

       Clinic Location:  On the grounds of the Palama Settlement

       Phone:  841-4489  (for appointments)

       Hours:  Hours vary, call to make an appointment

       Directions:  Take TheBus Route A to Palama St. & walk 3 blocks up Palama St. (toward

                            the mountains) to N. Vineyard Blvd.

       Cost:  FREE.  However, you must bring a picture ID card and evidence of your last 3 months

                  of income such as monthly stipend/pay stubs.  This is the only 100% free dental clinic

                  in Hawaii.

       Services Provided:  Exams, cleanings, fillings and extractions
