Through the process of manufacturing & consuming toast

Note

All bread can be crumpets instead. If you are using crumpets, in your head, replace the word “Toast” with the word “crumpet” as these steps can be used with crumpets too. If you are using crumpets, I recommend you get a toaster with a crumpet mode. You can get them from Sunbeam and probably some other brands.

Steps

  1. Remove your bread from wherever it is.
  2. Insert your bread into the toaster. Do not turn the toaster on yet.
  3. If applicable, plug in/switch on your toaster at the wall.
  4. If your toaster has a dial, turn the dial to the setting you want.
  5. Push the lever on your toaster down, until you hear the click. If you are using bread straight from the freezer, press the button marked “Freezer”, “Defrost” or something similar immediately after the click. The same applies if you are using crumpets, but press the “Crumpet” button instead, if your toaster has one.
  6. Wait until the toast pops out. This may take a while, so get your plate, knife, spread, and toast tongs, if applicable.
  7. Once the toast pops out, get it out. If you have them, you can use toast tongs, or if possible, push the lever up to raise the toast. You can combine both methods. If you want, just lift it out with your hands. Warning: If lifting your toast out using your hands, be careful not to touch the metal edges. For a few minutes after the toast pops out,the edges are very hot. You may want to wear baking mittens.
  8. Remove your plate, knife and spread from where they are and place them on your bench, if you have not done so already.
  9. Place your toast onto your plate.
  10. Open your spread.
  11. Scoop your spread out of the jar and onto the knife
  12. Put it onto your toast
  13. Repeat steps 11 to 12 if necessary
  14. Place your plate, with your toast, where you are sitting
  15. If you want, get a newspaper and read it.
  16. Sit down.
  17. Have your toast.
