• Informed consent

UK Data Protection Act 1998 states that consent must be obtained from individuals before their data can be used for research or commercial purposes. The customer shall be fully and clearly informed about the purpose and objectives of the data collection. Only after this full disclosure of intent can the customer give an "informed" consent.
