a message from Principal La Rue

Dear Parents and Students,

My staff and I are honored to educate your child.  We work hard every single day to ensure that your child is successful. Our goal is to move our API Score of 715 to 750 or higher this school year.  Eventually we want our school to be in the 800 club.  As we continue to teach your child, the next 50 days are essential in this effort.  STAR testing will begin the week of April 29, 2013.  You can personally support our efforts by ensuring your child is prepared for  school everyday.  When your child comes home from school, ask them to demonstrate what they learned.  It is also important that your child reads at least three books in the next 50 days.  I know if we work together, we can make this goal a reality.

We have seen a reduction in the number of suspensions and behavior problems.  All students are understanding the fact we want this school to be successful, therefore we have always maintained a safe learning environment.  We also understand there may be incidents at school which disrupt our community.  Each of these incidents are expeditiously handled appropriately and consequences are always issued.  We have a moral commitment to ensure all students are safe at our school.  We are in the process of forming a Safety Committee to ensure we implement positive strategies. If you are interested in being involved in this committee, please let me know.

We will begin to have family events every month to celebrate community and academics.  I look forward to working with everyone in our wonderful community to reach our goals and make Cesar Chavez Middle School a place of 21st century learning.

Mr. La Rue

We have over 50% of our student population on Honor Roll or greater, and 20% of our students have perfect attendance.

our school mission

The mission of Cesar Chavez Middle School is to provide a supportive environment as students’ transition from elementary to high school.  All students will be taught, encouraged, and challenged to assume increased responsibility over their learning and behavior through common structures resulting in a decrease in disciplinary actions and an increase in academic achievement. All students will develop skills in critical thinking allowing them to be successful learners in the 21st century.
