Englewood Library Summer Book Discussions and Art   Workshops

Tweens and teens are invited to participate in book discussions and  art workshops at the Englewood Public Library this summer. Workshops will take place in the Mackay Room from 3:30-5:30, every Thursday from July 11th to August 15th.  The summer workshops at the Englewood Public Library have been generously funded by a grant from The Community Chest of Englewood, Englewood Cliffs and Tenafly for 10 years.


July 10 & 17 “African Wearable Art Workshop” 

Create one of a kind “wearable art” using beads, ribbons and trims inspired by African designs. Discover the meaning and influences behind the designs. Learn how to make a Ghanaian glass bead bracelet. Artist: Mansa Mussa

July 24 & 31 “What’s Your Story? Workshop”

Mixed media visual art workshop using recycled items to create a one of a kind personal story box.  Find your creative voice as you experiment with different textures patterns, colors and objects to create a unique piece of art. Artist: Mansa Mussa

August 7 & 14 “Songwriting & Music Video Workshop”

Bring ideas together in this songwriting workshop. Learn about lyrics, melodies and rhythms as you write and perform your own song. Participants create their own lyrics and add digital media to make use of their words, images and ideas for a music video. Artist: Alice Leon
