Why do cats have whiskers?

File:Turkish Van Cat.jpg

Cats have whiskers just like a measuring  tape to measure how big or small a hole is to fit in. Cats have whiskers for many reasons, not just for looking pretty.

Tiny air movements

Tiny air movements are on the cat’s whiskers to sense. If there is a rat around the cat, it will sense that the rat is there. Tiny movements around the cat’s whiskers,

sense the size or shape of anything.

When cats know when a rat is around

When a rat is around and it goes flying past the cat, the whiskers on the cat’s leg will sense it. The  whiskers  on the cat’s leg will help them find where the rat is in the room.

The cat’s nerves send messages to the brain

The cat’s nerves around its whiskers send messages straight to the cat’s brain. If the cat can’t fit through a hole, the whiskers will send messages to the brain to say not to go through the hole.

Do not play, trim or bend cat’s whiskers

Cat’s whiskers are important to them. Do not play, trim or end the cat’s whiskers. They are very fussy when it comes to their whiskers.

Conclusion

As you can see cats have whiskers because they need them to live. They are not to look cute. Whiskers are important to their health.
