Blue & Green Day! - Friday, April 24th

Barton Pond’s 4th annual Blue & Green Day (field day) is coming next Friday, April 24th. This will be an opportunity for students to apply many of the skills they have learned in PE this year and enjoy time together as a grade level. K-2 students will attend in the morning and 3-5 & IDS in the afternoon. Please make sure your child is wearing comfortable clothing and shoes for an extended period of outdoor activities. Students should bring a water bottle and may want to bring a hat and/or sunglasses. Sunscreen should be applied before coming to school.

Yearbooks & Hats for Sale - Order by May 1st

• Yearbooks are now on sale!! Each yearbook costs $20. Visit Memberhub to purchase. Books are scheduled to be delivered to students the last week of school.  The deadline to order a yearbook is Friday, May 1st, 2026.
• Barton Pond Hats are now available via memberhub! Orders are being taken through memberhub and will be delivered to the school for distribution. Adult & youth sizes are available for $12 each. Purchase here.

Spirit Day - May 6th @ Chai’s Asian Bistro

Our next spirit day is Chai's Asian Bistro on Wednesday May 6th at 8347 Creedmoor Road. Dine in, order online or call in your order for lunch or dinner and mention Barton Pond for us to receive credit. Chai's, owned by a BP family, will generously donate 20% back to our school! (When ordering online, add Barton Pond in the order notes on the checkout page.)

End of Grade Test Dates (3rd-5th Grades)

3rd through 5th grade families - please mark your calendars for the following dates for our end of grade tests. Questions? Contact your child's teacher, or BPES Testing Coordinator, Melissa Gough, mgough@wcpss.net

• Friday May 29th: 3rd-5th Grade Reading
• Monday June 1st: 5th Grade Math
• Tuesday June 2nd: 3rd & 4th Grade Math + 5th Grade Science
• Wednesday June 3rd-11th: Make-ups, Read To Achieve, Retesting & Readministration (all on an as-needed basis)

Planning for 2026-2027

Please help us ensure we have accurate enrollment numbers for 2026-2027 so we can plan appropriate staffing:

• Kindergarten Registration - If you have a child that is turning 5 before August 31, it’s time to register them for Kindergarten! Early registration helps to ensure we have appropriate staffing in place for our KinderFrogs.  Please pass the word to neighbors and friends. Start the enrollment process online at https://www.wcpss.net/enroll 
• Withdrawals- If your rising 1st through 5th grader will be withdrawing from WCPSS to attend a private school, charter school, homeschool, or a school in another district, please email Olivia Hare at ohare@wcpss.net to let her know where your child will be attending.
