Teaching and Learning: a well-planned curriculum is taught by excellent teachers to pupils who are keen to improve, work hard, and study independently.

We will:

  • Provide a content-rich coherent curriculum.
  • Provide regular, meaningful, and timetabled home learning
  • Use regular assessments to track pupil progress and provide opportunities for pupils to act on feedback
  • Provide early intervention for students experiencing difficulties
  • Provide consistently high-quality teaching

I will:

  • Ensure all home learning is completed to a high standard and on time by making a space available for my child to do homework and support them
  • Support the Academy’s philosophy of high expectations for all
  • Support my child to encourage them to read widely
  • Attend parent's evening and engage in conversations regarding my child

I will:

  • Develop a growth mindset and a belief in continuous improvement
  • Work hard in all lessons and activities
  • Complete home learning on time and to a high standard
  • Act on feedback provided by my teachers
  • Take pride in my work
  • Prepare for assessment
  • Share my progress and learning with my parents

Attendance: pupils have a right to education and parents have a legal responsibility to ensure children attend regularly and on time.  GRA’s minimum attendance for a pupil is 95%.

We will:

  • Contact parents/carers on the first day of an unknown absence
  • Contact parents/carers of children who regularly arrive late to school
  • Rigorously follow up on poor attendance and/or punctuality
  • Not authorise holidays during term time

I will:

  • Make every effort to ensure my child attends school every day and on time
  • Inform the Academy as soon as possible about any absence and the reason for it
  • Not take my child on holiday or out of school during term time

I will:

  • Have high attendance and be punctual at school

Behaviour and Attitudes: pupils learn best in an orderly environment where everyone knows what is expected.

We will:

  • Have a behaviour policy that creates a safe and caring environment for everyone
  • Make sure that all staff, pupils, and parents/carers know what behaviour is expected
  • Consistently implement the behaviour policy
  • Follow up poor behaviour, in whatever form it takes, rigorously, fairly, and consistently
  • Ensure anti-bullying matters are dealt with swiftly
  • Act in the interests of the wider school population in the cases of persistent disruption or anti-social behaviour

I will:

  • Have the highest expectations of my child in terms of their behaviour and attitude and support them with this
  • Support the Academy’s behaviour policy
  • Work with the academy to find solutions in cases of unacceptable behaviour
  • Support the academy’s detention system, even when this is of personal inconvenience
  • Ensure the uniform is worn correctly and my child is organised for the day

I will:

  • Follow the academy’s routines and rules to the best of my ability
  • Show a willingness to learn from mistakes by taking responsibility for my actions
  • Wear the correct uniform each day with pride
  • Walk around the school calmly
  • Follow instructions the first time, every time.
  • Act as an ambassador at all times.

Communication: good communication between home and school is essential to ensure pupils get the support they need and deal with issues quickly and consistently.

We will:

  • Deal with you courteously and professionally
  • Report your child’s progress, behaviour and attendance each term
  • Make sure you are informed about the curriculum and other key policies through the website
  • Acknowledge any communication within 24 hours and provide you with a more detailed response within 72 hours.

I will:

  • Treat staff and other pupils and their families courteously
  • Keep the academy informed about anything that may affect my child’s learning or behaviour
  • Attend all parents’ evenings and meetings
  • Raise concerns promptly and directly with the academy

I will:

  • Take home letters, notes, and reports from academy and give them to my parents/carers
  • Talk with my parents and /or staff about any worries I have
  • Treat others courteously and respectfully at all times

Homework: learning at home has an important part to play in helping pupils achieve.

We will:

  • Provide pupils with meaningful homework that contributes to their academic development
  • Provide suitable materials and advice on home-based activities and how to help
  • Develop our pupils' confidence and independence in leading their learning

I will:

  • Ensure my child to do homework
  • Provide my child with time and somewhere to complete homework.

I will:

  • Complete all homework set and return it to school on time.
  • Copy up on missed work
  • Ask teachers to clarify if I do not understand homework
