Dear Mr. de Laszlo –
At our interview yesterday I interpreted your instructions to be as follows – will you please let me know if I am wrong in any detail?[1] —
- Accept Estimate of £230.10.0 for new parquet floor to the two studios only. Representative to call on you with sample of “Café Now” colour finish if possible.
- Accept estimate of £413.10.0 less £37.17.0 for indirect lighting = £375 – 13. 0 for oak panelling to smaller studio.
- Put in hand the new fireplace as 1” scale drawing shown [to?] you yesterday with marble surround [wall?] tiled interior and hearth. I will try and obtain an estimate for this before you go away. The present fireplace to be stored pending instructions as to where it is to be refixed.
- Accept estimate of £48.15.0 for pergola.
- The cork carpet from studios to be relaid as far as practical on main landings of house – the present [illegible] to being relaid in back passage, ground floor.
I enclose my account for work done for you last year – not because I am in a hurry for it, but because I gathered that you wish to know your expenses as far as possible.
Yrs very truly
G. Berkeley Wills.
