Dear Marczi,

I am hurrying to respond to your last letter, first and foremost to let you know that I have postponed my trip by two days – because there are two important portraits I have to finish, one of which is the Prime Minister’s wife [2324].

I leave here on Saturday, the 25th of this month, on the orient express, I get to Vienna on Sunday the 26th at 4.10 in the afternoon – I will meet you there – and we depart for Bpest at 4.23, arriving at 9.20 – when there won’t be many people at the station. I’m delighted that no one knows – that I’m passing through – and we’ll have a quiet time on the train talking about everything – I enclose another 500 francs – buy a return ticket – which is cheaper. I am glad you received the letters – etc. bring some of them with you – and send the bulk of them well packed up and sealed to Lucy – I don’t want to lug them around with me on this long trip – I have so much stuff with me anyway.

When Szerén^[1] died – I telegraphed and wrote a long letter to Gyula^[2]

and today I received a nice letter – of thanks from Gyula – in which he writes about how happy they were – the last three years were full of constant anxiety – and about how lonely he feels now – and he writes about you with great respect – and he hopes to spend a lot of time with you – when I reply I will thank him for the letters – and will mention the portrait of Lucy – Dezső – Elsa wrote nicely – I haven’t heard from Ilonka^[3] – [Z----] Samu – and Dr Laci Laub wrote nicely – and I have written back – Do you ever see anything of the latter people – I haven’t received any other letters of condolence – but we’ll discuss family matters in person.

Dear fellow, I am enclosing a remittance statement to show that last year all the money was sent to Munich, it is impossible for me to ask my bank in Paris – to make back-dated changes to things concerning the bank in Munich – I always did everything as you requested – in future I will make things out in your name which in English is For the account of Mr. M. László but we can talk about all this in person – enclosed are 500 for your journey to meet me in Vienna – our little daughter died on the 6th August 1903.^[4] Write at once to say that you have received this letter – so that I know – you will be at the station in Vienna – An embrace from Fülöp

Utolso leveledre sietek válaszolni mindenekelőtt – értesítelek hogy utazásomat két nappal elhalasztottam – mert kell hogy két fontos arczképet befejezzek, melynek egyike a ministerelnök neje.

Én innét e hó 25én szombaton mennék az orient expressel, érkezem Bécsbe vasárnapon 26án – délután 4 óra 10 perczkor – ott várlak – s indulunk 4 óra 23-kor Bpestre, oda 9.20 érkezünk – a mikor kevés ember lesz az indoházban, Pestről 9.41 indulok. Boldogít hogy nem tudja senki – hogy átutazom – s nekünk csendes időnk lesz a vonaton mindenről elbeszélgetni – mellékelve – még 500 frank vegyél egy retour jegyet – mely olcsóbb. Boldogít, hogy megkaptad a leveleket – etc. hozzál néhányat magaddal – a nagyobb részét pedig küld el jól csomagolva lepecsételve Lucy nevére – mest nem akarom e nagy úton magammal czipelni – amugy is oly sok van velem.

s ma kaptam egy szép – hálás levelet Gyulától – melyben megírja hogy minő boldogok voltak – s az utolsó három év telve volt allando aggodalommal – s most mennyire egyedül – érzi magát – s nagyon szépen tisztelettel ír rólad – s reméli sokat lesz veled – én válaszomban meg fogom köszönni a leveleket – s írok Lucy arczképe miadt – Dezső – Elsa szépen írtak – Ilonkától nem hallottam – Z[----] Samu – s Dr Laub Laci szépen írtak – válaszoltam is – vajjon találkozol-e az utobbiakkal – egyéb részvét levelet nem kaptam – De a családi ügyekről személyesen beszélgetünk.

Öregem mellékelve küldöm könyvemből a kimutatást hogy a múlt évben mint indult Münchenbe a pénz, nékem lehetetlen utólag a Bankomnak Parisba írni – hogy a müncheni Banknál tegyen változásokat - én mindenkor úgy intézkedtem amint te kívántad – a jövőben ugy írom – a te dispositiódra a mi angol nyelven For the account of Mr. M.
