Dear Volleyball Parents,

This email is intended for any 5-8 grade student interested in playing volleyball.

Our volleyball season begins soon. I hope you and your child enjoyed the summer and look forward to a few months of bump-set-hit.

We need to start the process for registering teams and acquiring uniforms.  Teams have to be submitted by the end of the first week of school.  We have an online enrollment form linked below. Please complete the form if you are interested.  [We will not hold you accountable if you change your mind after the volleyball parent meeting.]

The Volleyball Parent meeting will be held Thursday, August 9, 7:30-8:30pm. Please note that this meeting immediately follows Meet Your Teacher Night 5:15 - 7:30pm.

Below is some general information about our volleyball program so parents can know what to expect in the next few months.

Traditionally our school submits one Varsity team (8D2) composed of 7th & 8th grade girls and one JV team (6D2) of 5th & 6th grade girls.  We anticipate a similar projection for this year.

After submitting teams, the athletic director has a few weeks to finalize rosters and submit student names (prior to the first game). The first game of the season is scheduled for September 10.  The season lasts approximately eight weeks with playoffs near the end of October or beginning of November.

Our practices typically begin the first week of school. Coaches will communicate to athletes and parents their expectations including a practice schedule plus any required equipment (e.g. knee pads).  A parent meeting will be held with coaches soon after school starts.

If you are interested in playing this year, please complete the online enrollment form:

This form may also be located on the school website under ATHLETICS->VOLLEYBALL

All students must have a Physical Participation Form.  The form is available on the school website under FORMS -> ATHLETIC FORMS. Some pediatricians will complete or sign these forms at your next well visit.  These forms must be completed and received by the school in order for your child to participate in volleyball.

The cost to participate in DPL volleyball is $80.  Scholarships are available to qualified families.  Please contact Principal Scheibmeir for information.

We look forward to an exciting year of volleyball - GO TIGERS!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Athletic Director, Matt Stovall, at m-stovall1@ti.com or 903.267.9265 (call or text).

Sincerely,

St. Mary’s Catholic School
