Report on a pedophile in Thimphu
On the 16th of August a student that follows my profile on TikTok reached out to me saying his friends (15 year old and a 16 year old, both girls) are being harassed by a much older man online (around the age of 29).
For quick disclaimer, a lot of children follow me on TikTok mostly because of my content related to music and alternative sub-cultures but I always maintain a proper boundary and transparency about my age and intentions.
The pedophile/harasser goes by the nickname JP/Bubbles.. JP had seen the two kids in an event and started texting their profiles after that and constantly asking them out for rides, encouraging them to sneak out of their houses at night with him for alcoholic drinks.
(Attached in this half was originally two photos of JP that have already circulated that i have removed)
This wasn't an accidental case of a pedophilic crime because the two children clearly mentioned their age to him when asked and JP unfazed continued with his approach.
He had made comments on their looks and said they don't look “minor to me.” JP had been commenting on their story uploads and made comments on them.
Asking the children to hang out in a movie together even after the child's consistent rejection and asking them to sneak out, lying his age - often calling himself 19 years old, constantly turning on disappearing mode while texting them, and the classic pedophilic pattern response of saying they look matured to him, JP is a classic pedophile profile.
As a personal note, all I am wondering is what has become of the society in Thimphu or Bhutan as a whole that we enable such people to behave criminally with no remorse. Cancel culture is not prevalent here and I emphasise the importance of it especially with how easily communicable digital platforms are. I use my profile to express my opinions and hobbies and a lot of children seem to look up to me on this - and I am grateful to be the encourager to call out this kind of this behavior especially in cases related to children.
On the evening of 16th of August after the student that reached out to me for help, the children sent me their screenshots of the conversations with him of which I uploaded on my story and called him and all the mutual profiles on Instagram. My reasoning for that is to make it public because Bhutan has a way of sweeping under the rugs. I have not reported to the police or any agency first in the interest of making this a big deal because I am aware the people in Bhutan have a tendency to slip away from these. Call it cancel culture or whatever, but this is unacceptable and people like JP and people that enabled his behavior in the friend circle should all be made aware of basic ethics.
This is not JP’s first time texting children for such intentions or harassing other people to meet him. After my post has been up, multiple people reached out to me saying they or someone they know have been harassed by him as well. It is disturbing to know that this has been going on for a long while.
He frequently visits Space 34 on weekends and mentions this to people he texts often that he will see them there, oftentimes as a threat. His defence is that he had not “fucked or harassed that girl” but what good is safety measures after the crime had been committed.
Most of his mutuals call him weird and have shown this behavior commonly in the past. One of them even exclaimed that “this guy still didn't change.” Some of the victims that reached out to me after the post said that they have even been asked of “their cost.”
I want to emphasize that this is sexual harassment as all his texts to the children and the woman he approached as his intention has always been of sexual nature.
I want to be clear that my intention to upload his horrible actions is for the reach of this particular individual as well as to encourage people to speak up about people that they know are doing horrible illegal things, especially on the exploitation of children. How many times are we going to hear our friends stories of harassment and abuse when they were children? The society in Bhutan is too comfortable, do not be and speak up. How many cases are getting thrown under the rug through cases of nepotism and injustice?
JP reached out to me after the posts and asked me to take it down while frequently trying to threaten me and saying it's a misunderstanding. He had even denied that it was him in the screenshots to someone else reaching out to him about his crime. He had exclaimed to me and that person that reached out that he is “...the type to tie ur mother up, Fuck ur sister in the ass and hit your brother up.”
Not only is there a need for him to be away from everyone he poses a danger too he is also frequently giving multiple threats and I implore anyone in charge of judiciary authorities to protect the woman and children from pedophiles, harassers and abusers like him.
Finally, and with all emphasis - to everyone in the communities associated with media cultures in Bhutan, do not enable your friends with this behavior. That's where it starts from. You can not say it's unrelated to you or that you don't care- you either support an abuser or you don't.
