- For the most part, this graphic is designed for parents that are new to the Founders Academy. Most likely it will be sent to all parents as a refresher as to who they can contact should they need to. The parents enter the school with varying technology skills given their prior life experience. In the past, just the email was sent from Google Apps admin, often times this message was lost in parents personal email because it was filtered to spam or because it wasn't coming directly from the school. It is the hope that this new document will eliminate some of these missed set-up messages if this is sent prior to so parents can be on the lookout for it.
- I believe that my idea will work because there are numbered steps with clear instructions on who to contact if you are having difficulty. There is also information about follow-up trainings with links so parents can learn how to use the mail system which we are hoping will improve overall communication. There is an order to these steps, which is indicated by the numbered sequence (p. 146). This segment along with others like it on the initial set-up will chunk setting up accounts for parents into digestible lists (p. 120) These will be attached to an indexed (p. 121) as reference that parents, staff and students can refer to as needed.
- After a user test - The feedback indicated that the colors aided for important information to pop off the page. They appreciated the simplicity of the graphic that it was clear and to the point. I am still awaiting feedback from those that have been fielding the majority of the questions from new parents.
