Overview & Purpose
The key to searching out your genealogy on the Internet is to utilize all the tools at your disposal. I hope to provide you with some understanding of those tools; where to find them, how to use them, and which practices will best serve the genealogist.
Education Standards
- Be literate. Be courteous. Be thorough.
- Require evidence; seek documents or testimonials of close personal associates..
- Dig a little deeper. Go the second mile. Cite your sources.
Objectives
- Enjoy the journey. Bring to your research a greater understanding of culture and heritage, of geography, and history!
- Take baby steps. Establish a lifeline for each of your direct line ancestors. Flesh out the profile of your ancestors one vital event at a time.
- Document your journey. Organize your research and the records you gather digitally so as to preserve them safely.
Materials Needed
- Access to a Computer and the Internet.
- A Grain of Salt.

Steps to check for student understanding
- Never hesitate to ask a question or participate in a discussion.
- Listen to what others say and take notes on your tablet or whatever.
- Review the materials discussed in class and if you have questions, e-mail me!
Activity
Visit a Local Library and search out their physical resources as well as their as their electronic databases. Learn how you can utilize those resources.
Begin to write your own family history and that of your parents and grandparents.
