Team Bracket Format
Matches will be done in the MLPlay format, starting with Women’s, then Men’s and two Mixed Doubles. If the games split 2-2, we will do a Dreambreaker. All games will be MLP rally scoring to 21, win by 2. Playoff games will have score freezing.
Once the match is concluded, check that all scores and names are filled out for both teams. Have the team captain from each team sign the scorecard. It is the responsibility of the winning team to turn the scorecard into the tournament desk.
Teams will be sorted into 6 groups of 6, with an even amount of DUPR in each group. Teams will play all other teams in their group across Friday and Saturday. The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. The top 4 playoffs teams will receive a Bye from the Play-In round.
Challenger Bracket Format
All games will be MLP rally scoring to 21, win by 2. Playoff games will have score freezing.
Teams will be sorted into large groups with teams of similar DUPR competing in the same event (Men’s/Women’s/Mixed). Here is the breakdown:
These games will be 1 to 21, using the rally scoring described above. Games will be win by 2, switch at 11, and will use score freezing. Before each game, use a coin flip or rock paper scissors to determine the side and serve.
Top 8 from each group will make the single elimination playoffs.

Warm Up Courts
On Saturday and Sunday, Players can warm up before play starts. Before each individual game, the players are allowed 3 minutes to warm up on their court.
MLPlay Scoring
Each game will be played with rally scoring to 21 points. Players will change ends when one team reaches the score of 11. Games are win by 2.
During rally scoring players do not switch sides after winning points. Player A for each team serves and receives on the right side when the score is even, and Player B serves and receives on the left side when the score is odd. A team may choose to switch player sides during a time-out or end change
Each team has a single 1-minute timeout per game. Teams will be allowed to warm-up for 3 minutes before each game.
Score Freezing
Every playoff game played at Nationals will use score freezing. A team’s score will be frozen only if they meet both of these conditions:
If both of those conditions are met, they cannot gain any points and their score cannot go up. Once either of those conditions are false, a team can gain points like normal
Since only one team can have game point, that means only one team can be frozen at a time. It also means that a team can be unfrozen if they no longer have game point.
MLPlay Format
This is how all Team Bracket games will be determined. All Challenger Bracket games are 1 game to 21, using the rules in the MLPlay Scoring section.
Each team bracket match will consist of four games to 21 (win by 2) with rally scoring. The four games will be played in the following order: Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, then two Mixed Doubles. A singles tiebreaker DreamBreaker™ will be played to determine the winner of the Match if teams are tied at 2-2 in games.
DreamBreaker™
The DreamBreaker™ will use the same rally scoring used in the doubles games. 2 male and 2 female players will rotate in 4-rally rotations until the DreamBreaker™ is concluded (Player 1 plays 4 rallies, then Player 2 plays 4 rallies, then Player 3 plays 4 rallies, then Player 4 plays 4 rallies, and then the rotation repeats in the same order).
In terms of sides, singles players will serve from the side (left/right) of the court, based on their team score, as is typical in singles. The player will serve on the right side when that player’s team score is even, and when the team score is odd, the player on that team will serve from the left side of the court. Each team has a single one-minute timeout.
