EXPECTATIONS:
Students must be in the classroom and seated before the bell rings. Students should have the appropriate materials and be ready for class each day. Homework should be finished and ready to hand, in or be checked, when class begins. When a lab is set up, students should not misuse the lab materials. Students will be held accountable for the work that is completed during class every day. We will review previous information first, work on new information, and review the new information at the end of class.
CONDUCT:
Students are expected to be respectful and courteous to everyone and everything in the classroom.
GOOGLE CLASSROOM:
Assignments and lesson plans will be posted on Google Classroom. If students are absent, they should refer to the respective Google Classroom for lesson information, assignments, due dates, & test dates.
GRADING:
Tests and quizzes will consist of multiple choice, short answer, true/false, competition, and short answer questions. Tests will be given at the end of a unit and quizzes will be given frequently to check for understanding after lessons.
GRADING SCALE:
92-100 = A 82-91 = B 72-81 = C 62-71 = D 0-61 = E
MAKE UP WORK:
It is the student’s responsibility to make up all missed assignments when they are absent from class for any reason. Please complete the make up work quickly and within the respective deadline. The number of days absent will equal the number of days allowed to complete make up work. Make up tests can be scheduled with me upon return. If an absence is planned ahead of time, please see me and I will try to get your work ahead of time.
SAFETY:
Please adhere to all safety rules that will be discussed during the first week of school. Students will be required to sign safety contracts before conducting any labs.
HOMEWORK:
Homework serves as a tool to reinforce, practice, and master concepts successfully. All homework should be finished and ready to hand in, or be checked, when class begins. Studying vocab and repetition of concepts nightly will greatly benefit recall when concepts are tested. Late homework will not be accepted.
PROJECTS:
We will be completing several projects in Science and Social Studies throughout the school year. Detailed instructions will be given for each project at that time. Projects may require a written portion, a presentation portion, and/or a model representation. Project rubrics will be given out ahead of time for student reference during work. Class time will be given to work on project completion.
EXTRA HELP:
Please don’t hesitate to ask for extra help or clarification. Email is the quickest way to get a response. If I don’t reply within 24 hours, resend the email as the filter occasionally sends emails to my spam folder. TUTORING is an option for EVERYONE & starts in the fall.
