Getting Started

Does it matter what region I choose?

While the region will not affect your standard gameplay, if you want to transfer your account to a different device, you will need to make sure that the game's region on the receiving device matches the region you initially chose.

Should I choose Standard Download or Full Download?

Choosing Standard Download is fine. Full Download takes too long to get started.

Why does my download progress go over 100%?

This is a visual bug that often happens when you choose Full Download rather than Standard Download. If you leave it alone the progress bar will end up resetting, possibly several times, before stopping at 100% to finalize the download.

How do I reroll and who should I reroll for?

While you can reroll in this game, it is not something normally recommended unless there is a promotion going on (free 1000 stones, free pull ticket, etc.). With a promotion, it takes about 20 minutes for 10-20 pulls. Without a promotion, it takes about 40 minutes for 2 pulls or 4 hours for 10 pulls. Free characters are enough to clear most, if not all, of the content currently in the game so rerolling really is not necessary. That being said, if you wish to reroll:

  • Mobile: The easiest method is to have a rooted device. Navigate to "data/data/games.wfs.anothereden/" and delete the shared_prefs folder.
  • Steam: In Windows Explorer, navigate to "C:/Users/<user>/AppData/Local" and delete the Another Eden folder.

Commonly recommended characters by role (in no particular order):

  • Mob sweeping: Tiramisu, AS Tsubame
  • Zones: Melissa, AS Foran, AS Rosetta, Yipha, Myunfa, AS Veina, AS Yuna
  • Support/Healing: Mariel, Yuna, Rosetta, Dunarith
  • Damage: Thillelille, Victor, AS Tsukiha, AS Ewan, Yukino, AS Myrus, AS Ciel

(Recommendations last updated May 26, 2021)

Who should I choose with the 4 star Tutorial ticket?

It really doesn't matter in the long run because you will likely replace them by Chapter 14. However, there are still some that are better than others:

  • May: Early game earth damage and AoE with an easy (soon to be released) 5 star promotion that turns her into an extremely strong earth attacker.

  • Bivette: Early game HP regen and physical resist buff with one of the easiest 5 star promotions. Comes with a bonus side story.
  • Nikeh: Early game water damage to help with a certain early-game boss and can eventually upgrade to Another Style through a long and RNG heavy process.
  • Ciel: Early game earth damage, AoE, and power debuff to help with a certain early-game boss and can eventually upgrade to Another Style through a long and RNG heavy process. Comes with a bonus side story.
  • Miyu: Early game AoE, type resistance debuff, and int debuff to help with certain early-game bosses and can eventually upgrade to Another Style through a long and RNG heavy process. Comes with a bonus side story.

(Recommendations last updated September 4th, 2021)

Is Miyu still available as a free starting bonus?

No, she is not.

How do I secure my account or transfer my account to another device?

To do so, you will need to have first set up a Transfer ID. This can be done by going into Menu > Other > Data Transfer Settings > Activate ID Transfer > Set and then creating a password. Take a screenshot of your Transfer ID and password and then email the image to yourself.

While you do have the option to connect to Facebook and Google as well, there have been reports where it has failed. To be safe, always activate your ID Transfer even if you also plan to connect to Facebook or Google.

In addition, take a screenshot of the Title Screen to catch the Game ID number in the top left and email that image to yourself as well. In case you ever need to go through customer support to restore your account, having both the Game ID and the Transfer ID will dramatically smoothen out the process.

How often can I use my Transfer ID and password? Do I need to activate it each time?

You only need to activate your Transfer ID one time and then you can use it as much as you’d like. Your Transfer ID basically acts as the “username” to your account while the password you created is the “password” bound to that username. Keep in mind that you are limited to 10 transfers per day. Going past that limit will cause your account to get locked for 24 hours.

General

What am I getting into with this game?

I’ll let Bamiji answer this question: https://www.reddit.com/user/Bamiji/comments/n8pc3j/what_youre_getting_into_with_another_eden/

How long is this game?

The main story is currently 83 chapters long in both the Global version and Japanese version. In addition there are 10 side episodes (12 in JP), 2 Other Tales, 3 Symphony episodes, and 1 Mythos as of September 4th, 2021.

What is a side episode?

Side episodes are side stories that our main cast get involved in and will automatically unlock as you progress the main story. They are usually about 4 chapters long and finishing some of them is mandatory to continue story progression. They also provide free/welfare characters to help expand your roster.

Side episodes will usually involve some form of grinding for special currency. While the requirements to continue the episode are low, there are additional reward tiers which require a large amount of currency to hit. Getting all rewards will usually take 1-2 weeks of grinding for that specific episode. Each side episode may have its own set of specific characters who will provide a bonus multiplier to collecting currency.

What is an Other Tale?

Other Tales are side stories revolving around specific gacha 4 star characters. They are usually about 6 chapters long. You will need the specific character to begin their Other Tale but it isn’t too difficult to get them. Upon completion of the Other Tale, a new Another Dungeon will open up allowing you to farm the materials needed to promote the respective character to 5 stars.

What is a Symphony?

Symphony is the term used to describe collaboration/crossovers with other IPs. Currently there are 3 Symphonies in the game: Persona 5 Royal part 1, Personal 5 Royal part 2, and Tales of Chronographia. They are usually about 4 chapters long. Each Symphony provides multiple characters from the IP for free. None of the characters need to be acquired through the gacha.

Symphonies will usually involve some form of grinding for special currency in order to unlock bonuses or reward tiers.

What is a Mythos?

Mythos is the term used to describe an extended side episode. They are usually about 10 chapters long. They also provide free/welfare characters to help expand your roster.

Mythos chapters are varied with different things to do in each one. They will also come with their own set of Another Dungeons.

Can I auto battle?

No, you cannot.

Can I dungeon skip but still get rewards?

No, you cannot.

Can I skip all these cutscenes?

No, you cannot.

Why is there so much talking?

Because this is a JRPG and the dialogue/story is half the fun.

When does the game day reset?

The game day resets at 15:00 UTC. This is 10:00 EST/11:00 EDT and 00:00 JST.

What kind of currency systems are there? How much currency can I get each day?

The main type of currency is called Chronos Stones. They are divided into paid and free. Free always gets used first unless it is something that specifically requires paid Chronos Stones. You can get the following each day:

  • 20 free Chronos Stones from watching an ad the first time you log into the game
  • 20 free Chronos Stones from the delivery cat
  • 10 free Chronos Stones from watching an ad in the cash shop
  • 0, 5, 10, or 20 free Chronos Stones from watching an ad from the upper left chest in the menu (up to 5 times)

This means you'll be able to collect anywhere from 50 to 150 free Chronos Stones a day. Important note: Steam users will not be able to watch ads which limits them to only 20 free Chronos Stones a day.

Another currency is called Git. It cannot be bought with real money and is mainly used as currency for everything else in game such as buying equipment, upgrading equipment, etc. While it may be in short supply during the early game, it becomes a non-issue once you reach late game.

The final major currency is Tsubura’s Gems. It cannot be bought with real money. You can begin to collect them after clearing Chapter 25 and unlocking Very Hard storyline Another Dungeons. You can earn 10 each time you clear a Very Hard dungeon or a Hard dungeon that requires 2 green keys to enter. You can collect up to 120 a week. They can be used to purchase items that normally have very low rates and act as a safeguard against bad luck.

There are also some minor currencies used for the side episodes. They can be farmed in their respective maps and will usually have specific bonus characters that increase the rate of acquisition. These currencies cannot be bought with real money and act as a time-sink/grind.

Is there a stamina system?

The closest things to a stamina system are the Red/Green keys used to access Another Dungeons and the Bold Pulses used to access the Boss Rush. Everything else can be accessed at any time with no limitations.

Are there limited time characters or events? How about seasonal events?

There are no time limited characters or events. There are no seasonal events. However, there are time limited rate-up banners and time limited promotions which may include extra Chronos Stones, Red/Green Keys, or single pull tickets.

How do I craft equipment? The Blacksmith keeps taking my materials.

The Blacksmith is the one that crafts your equipment. Every time you visit them your materials are sold to them and added to the inventory they can use to craft equipment for you. This inventory is shared between all Blacksmiths so you can visit any of them to get equipment crafted. It is not possible to check how much of a certain material is in their inventory unless you select a piece of equipment that uses that specific material.

How do I get rid of low level equipment?

You can't. It stays in your inventory forever.

What are these sparkling points on the ground? How long do they take to come back?

Sparkles will give you materials to craft weapons or armor. It takes one hour for them to respawn, they always respawn in the same location, and they always give the same material.

What are these monsters visible on the map with the red/yellow/blue icons on the minimap? How long do they take to come back?

Those monsters are called Horrors and are meant to be difficult fights for when you first encounter them. They will chase you a set distance if they spot you running around on the map. You should generally avoid them when you first encounter them and then come back later once you are more powerful. Defeating them will give you an achievement. Some of them can also be farmed for crafting materials. After defeating them on the overworld it will take 6 hours for them to respawn.

I just finished an area and now I can’t return to it. Is it gone forever?

No areas will permanently disappear. Most of them can be accessed through the Memory Room in the Spacetime Rift. To reach the Memory Room, teleport to the Spacetime Rift, walk left and up past the portals. There will be two large doorways and then a fishing pool. Enter the first doorway (the one on the right) and talk to the boy inside to choose the area you want to visit.

For the IDA side episodes, you can revisit the Dream Worlds by going to IDEA HQ. To reach IDEA HQ, teleport to IDA School - H Block in the Future, go up to the second floor, and examine the exclamation mark just north of the stairs.

Are there any secrets? If so, are any of them missable?

Yes, the game has many secrets that encourage exploring. This includes hidden pathways, unmarked interactable items, and puzzles that require you to return to previously visited areas.

Nothing in this game is missable. You will always have the option to return later to do or discover them.

What is the endgame like?

The daily endgame revolves around grinding Another Dungeons for gear, grasta, and upgrade materials to promote your units. Most players will do 4 runs of a Very Hard Another Dungeon and then 2 runs of a Hard Garulea Dungeon which will likely take less than 30 minutes.

In addition, there are a variety of difficult boss battles that you can try to take on. While some can only be fought once, others can be fought multiple times for fun.

How often do updates come out?

The Japanese version has updates about once every 2 weeks. The Global version has updates about once every 1 to 2 weeks averaging around 10 days between each update.

Battle

How do I get stronger?

There are many ways you can do so:

  • Leveling: As you gain levels, you gain base stats and AP that will make your character stronger.
  • Ability Board: Continuing from the previous point, you get AP when you level. You can then spend the AP on your ability board to get even more stats and skills.
  • Equipment: As you kill enemies, you will collect materials. Talking to a blacksmith sells those materials to the blacksmith and puts them into their inventory. You can then pay git to have weapons or armor crafted based on the materials they have in their inventory.
  • Badges: Badges are usually found after finishing Another Dungeons. They are a source of extra stats or special effects (such as extra EXP for the equipped character).
  • Grasta: A late-game addition. These are items that you can equip on your characters to give them bonus stats and effects. Examples are boosting damage for skills of a certain element or boosting damage while the target is affected by a specific status effect.
  • Character Quests: Finishing character quests will unlock additional stat nodes and skills on your Ability Board. Always try to keep up-to-date on the character quests of your commonly used characters.

How does EXP work? Does it get split? Does it help if I have fewer characters in the party?

When a battle is over, the displayed EXP gained is how much each character in the party will get. It is not divided between the different characters. Having more characters in the party does not reduce the EXP for each character.

Individual characters may see a boost in the EXP they receive. There are three possible sources of boosts:

Any character less than 3/4 the level of the highest leveled character overall will gain 2x EXP. If your highest leveled character is 72, any character less than level 54 will gain 2x EXP. The higher leveled character does not have to be in the party.

For characters with a second style, whichever style is lower leveled will gain 2.5x EXP until it catches up to the higher leveled style. If AS Suzette is level 64, then NS Suzette will gain 2.5 EXP until she reaches level 64 as well (and vice versa).

Any character with an EXP boost from equipment (such as an EXP badge) will gain the stated extra EXP for themselves only. This includes the EXP/Git badge that can be obtained from the P5R Symphony.

How do I target enemies individually?

Choose the character you want to attack by tapping their portrait. Choose the target you want to attack by tapping their sprite on the battlefield. Choose the skill you want to use by tapping its name from the menu above your party's portraits. If you later tap an enemy without tapping on a character first, it will reset all targeting to that one enemy.

Is there an easy way to recover HP/MP?

Outside of battle, you have a single-use food item that will fully restore your HP and MP. This can be replenished by visiting any Inn. Yes, you can eat your sandwiches and get them back later. Don’t worry!

Inside of battle, you will have to rely on the reserves. Any character in the reserves will restore 10% of their max HP and MP per turn. You can have as many characters in the reserves as you want as long as one character remains in the frontlines; however, if your frontlines die then you lose the battle regardless of how many characters are still alive in the reserves.

One method of recovering HP/MP mid-dungeon is to enter a battle, kill all but one enemy, and then cycle 1 of your 6 characters into the frontlines each turn while the remaining 5 recover their HP/MP in the reserves.

What happens if I die?

If you are in the overworld, you will be returned to the last Inn with full HP/MP. The only thing you lose is the time needed to make your way back to where you were before you died.

If you are in an Another Dungeon, you will be removed from the dungeon and lose all the items you gained while you were in the dungeon. Because your keys are used upon entry, you will also have wasted them. However, you still get to keep the EXP you earned while in the dungeon.

If you want to avoid these (minor) penalties, you can force close your game while on the continue screen. After you open it back up, you will be at the last autosave. For most battles this will place you just before the place you died. However, with some bosses you will end up somewhere in the middle of the battle.

I keep dying, help!

Not exactly a question but I’ll overlook that.

Survival depends on several factors: equipment/stats, your skill usage including buffs/debuffs, and the enemy skill rotation.

Make sure that you have been spending your AP in your ability boards as your characters level up. While equipment isn’t as important when leveling up, if you run into a roadblock it might be worth spending some time to update your gear.

In battle, the easiest way to avoid dying is to kill the enemy first. In normal battles, use DPS that can hit multiple enemies at once and try to target the enemies’ weaknesses while avoiding their resistances. If you cannot kill them quickly enough then it’s time to use buffs and debuffs to reduce the damage you take. For bosses, make good use of your Another Force to skip past phases with high damage output or instant death attacks.

It’s worth noting that debuffs are significantly more powerful than buffs when looking at percentages. A 25% debuff provides more damage mitigation than a 50% resistance buff due to how the damage formula works.

Finally, it’s just as important to know the enemies’ skills especially if they have a set rotation. This allows you to plan your buffs/debuffs and frontline/reserves switches more effectively. If you know a large hit is incoming you could make sure to have the proper buffs/debuffs up, bring in a tank to soak the hit, or hide all but one character in the reserves to minimize the amount of healing you’ll need to do.

Do buffs/debuffs stack in this game? How do they stack?

Buffs and debuffs do stack; however, if there is more than one buff or debuff within a category the weaker one will be subject to diminishing returns. The total value of the buff cannot go over 100%.

Diminishing returns follow this formula: Total% = A% + (A% * B%) + (A% * B% * C%) + …

Where A% >= B% >= C% >= …

Categories:

  • Physical resistance buffs (includes slash, pierce, blunt, and all)
  • Type resistance buffs (includes fire, water, earth, wind, shade, thunder, crystal, and all)
  • PWR buffs
  • INT buffs
  • SPD buffs
  • Type damage buffs
  • Weapon damage buffs
  • Physical resistance debuffs (includes slash, pierce, blunt, and all)
  • Type resistance debuffs (includes fire, water, earth, wind, shade, thunder, crystal, and all)
  • PWR debuffs
  • INT debuffs
  • SPD debuffs

The exception to the above rules are critical rate and critical damage buffs. They stack additively with no diminishing returns and can go over 100%.

How does speed work in this game? Why do characters with lower speed keep going before characters with higher speed?

Speed has a variance of +/-10% for each character. Let’s pretend we have two characters, A and B:

  • If character A has 200 speed, this means that they can have an effective speed between 180-220 on any one turn.
  • If character B has 170 speed, this means they can have an effective speed between 153-187 on any one turn.
  • If character A ends up on the low end of their range and character B ends up on the high end of their range then character B will end up going before character A (187 > 180).

This does not affect speed based damage or Another Force speed threshold calculations.

Characters

How do I get more characters?

There are several ways you can get new characters:

  • Through Dreams/Gacha: This is the main way you will get new characters. You can pull on the Regular or Limited banners using your Chronos Stones to get new characters. These are considered characters of convenience as all content can be cleared using non-gacha characters.
  • Through main/side story quests: As you progress through the main story, more and more characters will automatically join your team. In addition, there are Side Episodes, Symphonies (Collaborations), and Mythos which will also have characters automatically join your team.
  • Through battles: There are 3 Chance Encounter characters you will eventually run into along your travels. They begin a series of battles and if you successfully complete all of them they will join your team. There is also a 4th character locked not only behind battles but behind the fishing minigame as well.

How do rarity levels work in this game?

Characters can range from 3 to 5 stars. Characters with more stars will have more stats and more skills. They can be generally divided into the following categories:

  • 3 stars: They have 3 golden stars and no unfilled stars. These are generally considered to be trash/filler characters and should be replaced as soon as possible.
  • 3.5 stars: They have 3 golden stars and a single unfilled star. These are generally considered to be poor quality characters and should be replaced as soon as possible.
  • 4 stars: They have 4 golden stars and no unfilled stars. These are generally considered to be below average characters but can be used when there are no better options. Some also have unique abilities which may make them useful in specific fights. Others have the ability to class change into an Another Style which greatly improves the potential.
  • 4.5 stars: They have 4 golden stars and a single unfilled star. These are generally considered to be below average characters but with the potential to class change into a 5 star. They are generally advised to be levelled if there are not enough 5 stars to fill the party.
  • 5 stars (Normal Style): They have 5 golden stars and no unfilled stars. These are generally considered to be the best characters and will eventually make up your entire team.
  • 5 stars (Another Style): They have 5 bluish-silver stars and no unfilled stars. These are functionally the same as a normal 5 star and are not necessarily better or worse.
  • 5 stars (Extra Style): They have 5 teal-green stars and no unfilled stars. These are functionally the same as a normal 5 star and are not necessarily better or worse.

Note: 2 star characters technically exist but they can all be promoted to a max of 4 or 5 stars.

What do you mean by Another Style? Extra Style?

A character with gold stars is considered to be their Normal Style (NS). A character with bluish-silver stars is considered to be their Another Style (AS). A character with teal-green stars is considered to be their Extra Style (ES). Different styles are not generally considered to be better or worse than the other because they often change the role the character fills.

Another Styles share the same element, weapon, and 2-4 star ability boards as their NS counterpart. However, they have a different 5 star ability board which means they will have a slightly different stat distribution and two different final skills. The AS form of a character often fills a different role compared to the NS form of a character. For example: NS Melina is a water-based hammer support while AS Melina is a water-based hammer healer/support.

Extra Styles may have different elements, weapons, and ability boards compared to their NS counterpart. The ES form of a character often fills a different role compared to the NS and AS form of a character. For example, ES Melina is a water/thunder-based fist DPS/support. Extra Styles still share their light/shadow value with the other styles despite having a different weapon type.

Normal Styles, Another Styles, and Extra Styles are not different characters. They are just different styles/costumes of the same character. This means that you cannot use the NS, AS, and/or ES forms of the character together in the same battle. This also means that when dealing with currency bonuses for side episodes you can use whichever style you’d like.

You are allowed to switch between styles at any time outside of battle and outside of Another Dungeons. Each style has its own equipment and grasta setup. Light/shadow is shared between styles, even if the weapon type changes.

How do I promote my lower rarity characters?

You can promote characters with a missing star or you can sidegrade characters with a different style. This is done by talking to Lady Midd in the Tavern of the Spacetime Rift (unlocked after Chapter 10). You will need the following materials to promote your characters:

  • 2 to 3 stars: 1 murmur script
  • 3 to 4 stars: 30 murmur scripts, 10 prayer scripts, and 1 specific tome.
  • 4 to 5 stars: 90 murmur scripts, 30 prayer scripts, 5 chant scripts, and 1 specific tome.
  • AS sidegrade: 90 murmur scripts, 30 prayer scripts, 5 chant scripts, and 5 specific treatises.
  • ES sidegrade: 90 murmur scripts, 30 prayer scripts, 5 chant scripts, and 5 specific codices (plural of codex).

Exceptions include:

  • Main story characters (4 to 5 stars): 90 murmur scripts, 30 prayer scripts, and 10 specific psalms. Riica and Cyrus also require you to finish the side episodes Azure Rebel and Celestial Tower plus their follow-up battle quests respectively.
  • Miyu, Ciel, and Bivette (4 to 5 stars): 90 murmur scripts, 30 prayer scripts, 1 chant script, and 30 specific psalms
  • Deirdre: Finish the First Knight side episode.
  • Jade: 90 murmur scripts, 30 prayer scripts, 5 chant scripts, and 1 specific tome. Also requires you to finish the IDA 2 and Lost Tome side episodes and the follow-up battle quests.
  • AS Saki: Finish the IDA 2 side episode and the follow-up battle quests.
  • AS Gariyu: Finish all 3 character quests for NS Gariyu and then do the follow-up battle quests.

Chant scripts are rare and should be used with caution.

Specific treatises and codices are extremely rare and will likely take months to collect all of them. While they can be bought at the Nopaew Emporium you are limited to only 2 each and they do not restock.

What sort of roles do characters fall into?

There are a variety of different roles that characters can fill and many fill more than one with varying levels of effectiveness.

  • Tank: Tanks typically draw the single target attacks of enemies by inflicting them with Rage. They will usually have some forms of damage mitigation through resistance up buffs, power/int debuffs, and/or damage reduction shields. Unfortunately, tanks are not typically used except for a select few fights.
  • DPS/Damage Dealers: DPS typically deal the majority of the damage to an enemy. They will usually have a way to increase the power of their attacks by meeting certain criteria such as being at Max HP, hitting a target afflicted with pain, having a certain number of stacks of a buff, etc. They can be further divided into single target DPS, multi-target DPS, end-of-turn DPS, Another Force specialist, etc.
  • Healer: Healers directly restore the HP of allies. They will typically also have ways of cleansing status effects from your party members. While healing is usually affected by the INT stat, some characters have fixed value healing which does not change regardless of buffs or debuffs.
  • Support: Supports help the party through buffs, debuffs, and off-healing.

Offensive supports improve the party’s offensive capabilities through PWR, INT, SPD, elemental damage, weapon damage, critical rate, and critical damage buffs and/or physical and elemental resistance debuffs.

Defensive supports improve the party’s defensive capabilities through physical resistance, elemental resistance, HP regen, MP regen, status effect immunity, and hold ground buffs and/or PWR and INT debuffs.
  • Poison/Pain Setter: Poison/Pain setters improve the party’s damage by inflicting the enemy with poison or pain. Certain skills and equippable items cause characters to deal more damage when the enemy is afflicted with poison or pain. In the endgame, having poison or pain on the enemy can increase the party’s overall damage by over 2 times.
  • Zone Setter: Zone setters create a battlefield wide effect known as a Zone or Stance. Zones can be used both offensively or defensively and are an important way to increase both damage output and survivability.

Where's the tier list?

A word of warning: Tier lists are not as helpful in this game because there is more emphasis on team synergy and building for specific fights rather than having a general team of 4-6 highly rated characters with no synergy. Use them with caution.

Tier list #1: https://anothereden.miraheze.org/wiki/User:Bamiji/Tier_List

Tier list #2: https://anothereden.miraheze.org/wiki/Tier_Lists

How should I spend my AP on the Ability Board? It suddenly split into two paths!

The first thing to know is that at max level (50 for a 3 star, 60 for a 4 star, 80 for a 5 star), a character will be able to fill every single node of their ability board. It is impossible to mess it up and you will not need to reset it.

When spending AP, your goal should be to reach the last board ASAP. The reason is because each stat node takes 1 AP to unlock regardless of where it is, but early nodes only give +3 or +5 to a stat while later nodes give +10 or +20 to a stat. This means it's more efficient to spend AP on later nodes than earlier nodes.

If you are faced with a split, fill the path with the highest PWR/INT/SPD first. Don't worry about filling in the other path until you've finished filling the final board. Once the last board is filled out, you can begin to backfill all the nodes you skipped.

How do I level up efficiently?

Starting the game: Just keep fighting enemies in the highest level area you have access to.

After Chapter 11: Run the Hard Transitory Time Space Another Dungeon. When out of keys, just keep fighting enemies in the highest level area you have access to.

After Chapter 25: Run the Very Hard Transitory Time Space Another Dungeon. When out of keys, fight enemies in either Beast King Castle or Chronos Umbra overworld. A popular tactic is to place Morgana in the frontlines, Joker in the reserves, and then swap them at the start of battle for a 0 MP AoE.

After Chapter 64: Run the Very Hard Transitory Time Space Another Dungeon. When out of keys, use an auto-attack team with a hammer user holding the “Normal Attack to All Targets (Hammer)” grasta in Temple Ruins overworld.

After Chapter 74: Run the Very Hard Transitory Time Space Another Dungeon. When out of keys, use an auto-attack team with a hammer user holding the “Normal Attack to All Targets (Hammer)” grasta and a sword user holding “Dexterity’s Demands” with the appropriate grasta enhancements in Satellite Stadium overworld.

What are these yellow wings and purple swirls? What do you mean by Guiding Light and Luring Shadow?

The yellow wings represent guiding light and the purple swirls represent luring shadow. This is a character specific stat. 3 star characters start with 1, 4 star characters start with 4, and 5 star characters start with 16. The maximum light/shadow a character can have is 255. As light/shadow increases, there are two benefits.

  • Character benefit: At certain thresholds the character will gain a stat boost. These thresholds occur at 5, 15, 30, 50, 75, 105, 140, 175, 215, and 255. The stat boosts are usually small enough that they aren’t considered game-breaking.

In addition, there is another set of thresholds that give the character a special boost. At 80 an additional skill slot unlocks. At 120 an additional badge slot unlocks. At 200 an additional grasta slot unlocks. At 255 the character gains an additional +10 to all stats.
  • Party benefit: The light/shadow of all 6 characters are added together to give the party’s total light/shadow. This value is used when determining how many reward slots are unlocked when running Another Dungeons.

How do I farm Guiding Light and Luring Shadow?

For gacha characters, the only way to increase light/shadow is through pulling dupes or using very rare items.

For story characters, many of them have a specific Another Dungeon they can gain light/shadow from. For example, if Aldo is in the party while running the Miglance Castle Another Dungeon, he will have a chance to gain guiding light. The character must be in the party to gain light/shadow but they do not need to be in the front nor do they need to be alive when the dungeon is completed.

You can find which dungeon matches which character here (POTENTIAL SPOILERS).

Once a story character reaches 255 light there are no additional benefits. Unlike gacha characters, extra light/shadow on story characters will not be converted into items.

Who should I use these rare Guiding Light/Luring Shadow items on?

The rule of thumb is that you avoid using them on characters that can farm light/shadow in Another Dungeons. In addition, avoid using them unless they let you unlock a new Another Dungeon reward slot or reach an important threshold for the character (like an additional badge slot).

How good are the free/welfare characters?

Unlike other mobile/gacha games you may be familiar with, many of the free/welfare characters are actually very powerful.

  • Joker (P5R1 Symphony): Early source of 0 MP clear, excellent at building AF, and great for abusing enemy weaknesses.
  • Morgana (P5R1 Symphony): Early 5 star healer with access to many debuffs, decent damage, and great for abusing enemy weaknesses.
  • Violet (P5R2 Symphony): Strong DPS character with very high burst potential and excellent at building AF.
  • Cress (Tales Symphony): Early provider of Slash Zone which makes boss fights much easier. Can also buff sword and katana damage for the party.
  • Yuri (Tales Symphony): Early provider of critical rate and damage buffs, healing, and good DPS.
  • Milla (Tales Symphony): Support character with strong offensive debuffs and an end-of-turn heal or debuff depending on the elements used that turn.
  • Deirdre (First Knight side episode): Strong DPS character with the ability to guarantee pain and physical resistance debuffs for earth/slash teams.
  • Jade (Jewel in the Shade event): Strong DPS character with the ability to guarantee pain for fire/pierce teams. Can also buff spear damage for the party.
  • Mana (IDA Part 3 side episode): Support character with extremely powerful buffs and debuffs, MP healing for the party, and the ability to clear enemy buffs and debuffs. A very important character to have when dealing with bosses that like to buff their own damage.
  • Sophia (Lost Tome side episode): Support character with the ability to provide hold ground multiple times allowing your party to survive fatal attacks at 1 HP. Also has the strongest elemental resistance buff in the entire game.
  • Aldo: DPS/support with critical damage buffs, elemental damage buffs, and powers up based on the number of guiding lights he has.

How quickly does powercreep occur? What happens to older characters?

Powercreep has been moving at a steady pace although due to how synergy-based the game is many older characters are still viable in one form or another. The two big areas of powercreep are in damage multipliers (how much damage each skill does) and expansion of roles (a single character being able to fill more and more roles). To combat powercreep, older characters have received new styles, manifest weapons, and occasionally straight buffs to keep them relevant.

What are manifest weapons?

Manifest weapons are weapons that boost the power of a specific style for a character. They increase the base damage and add extra effects to the 2 skills on the character’s 5 star board after their potential is fully unlocked. Not all characters or styles have manifest weapons since they are being slowly released over time. They are available after finishing Chapter 25 of the main story.

To acquire them, bring the appropriate character to the Demon Grandpa in the upper-most doorway of the Spacetime Rift. You will fight a clone of the character to get the weapon. You can then equip the weapon on any character and go fight to gain EXP to level the weapon. The weapon is not affected by any EXP boosts. Once the weapon reaches level 10, you can return to the Demon Grandpa to fight a more powerful version of the clone. After defeating the clone a second time the weapon’s potential will be fully unlocked.

Dreams and Banners

Is there a difference between single and multi-pulls?

Yes, there is. Multi-pulls have a guaranteed 4 star or higher on the 10th pull. This adds up over time as your account can begin to collect 4.5 stars which you can later manually upgrade to 5 stars.

The only time single pulls are better than multi-pulls is when you are chasing a rate-up AS/ES character and only that character without caring about any other character that you could potentially pull. Since the rate for a rate-up AS/ES character is the same across all pulls with no bonus from the 10th pull of a multi, single pulling allows you to stop as soon as the desired character is pulled with no change in rate.

What are the gacha rates like?

While the values may differ slightly per banner, the rates are generally as follows:

  • 3 or 3.5 star: 76.3% (0% on the tenth pull of a multi)
  • 4 or 4.5 star: 20.4% (96.4% on the tenth pull of a multi)
  • 5 star, AS, or ES: 3.3% (3.6% on the tenth pull of a multi)

The rate up unit is usually at a steady 0.8% across all pulls (1.0% for a 4 star base AS) for their 5 star version and a 0.4% (1.3% on the tenth pull of a multi) for their 4.5 star version.

There is no pity or spark system.

What happens if I pull a dupe of a character?

That character will gain either guiding light or luring shadow depending on their classification. The amount they gain will depend on the rarity of the dupe that was pulled:

  • 3 or 3.5 star dupe: +1 light/shadow
  • 4 or 4.5 star dupe: +4 light/shadow
  • 5 star, AS, or ES dupe: +16 light/shadow

If a character reaches 255 light/shadow, any extra will be converted into an item specific to that weapon type and light/shadow which can be used on any other character matching that weapon type and light/shadow classification.

In addition, if the rarity of the dupe pulled is higher than the current character or if the dupe belongs to a different style, the current character will gain a free class change into that new rarity or style.

Who should I choose for my Star Dream Encounter?

Stop for a moment. The first thing you should do is wait. The SDE is available for a whole month. If you want to do it, wait until there are only 2-3 days remaining before buying it. This will give you a Star Dream Piece that lasts a month. Once again, wait until there are only 2-3 days remaining before using it to choose your 5 star character. This gives you an additional 2 months to do pulls on other banners and potentially get the characters you want off-banner.

Is your Star Dream Piece about to expire? Now is the time to ask who to choose. Go do it in the Help and Questions Megathread of Reddit or the #questions channel of Discord. The choices will depend on your current roster and is beyond the scope of this FAQ.

Another Dungeons

What is the overworld? What are Another Dungeons?

The overworld is any area that can be accessed at any time without the need to use Red/Green Keys. This includes areas that may no longer be available normally but can be accessed through the memory room.

Another Dungeons are maps that can only be accessed through the Blue Door in the Spacetime Rift. Red/Green keys are required to access these maps.

What is the point of running Another Dungeons?

Another Dungeons are the main source of scripts, tomes, and treatises which are used to promote characters to higher rarities or other styles. In addition, they provide badges which can be equipped to characters and materials which can be used to craft or upgrade equipment. Certain Another Dungeons also provide grasta and enhancement ore used for customizing characters in the endgame.

Note that specific 5 star tomes can only be found in specific Very Hard Another Dungeons. Chant scripts can only be found in storyline Very Hard Another Dungeons, Very Hard Otherlands, and Hard Garulea Another Dungeons. Treatises can only be found in storyline and Symphony Very Hard Another Dungeons and Hard Garulea Another Dungeons.

Another benefit of running specific Another Dungeons is that certain story characters may be able to raise their light/shadow values upon completion.

How do rewards work in Another Dungeons?

Upon completion of an Another Dungeon, there will be a number of reward slots based upon whether the dungeon requires light or shadow and the value of the party’s light or shadow. For reward slots which accept either light or shadow, the higher value will be used to determine if it is unlocked. For reward slots which only accept a specific type, the appropriate value will be used to determine if it is unlocked.

  • Hard Dungeons (1x green key):
  • 1 reward slot: 0 light/shadow (either)
  • 2 reward slots: 24+ light/shadow (either)
  • 3 reward slots: 96+ light/shadow (specific)
