This week at Silver Creek …

 Principal’s Message

The next two months will be busy at Silver Creek.  We hope you find this weekly email helpful at keeping you in the loop about all the great things happening at Silver Creek.

We look forward to seeing many of you Tuesday evening at the Active Family Fun Night. Thanks to the Parent Councils of George Kennedy and Silver Creek for bringing this event to us.   See the flyer attached for more details.

EQAO testing for grade 3 and 6 students will take place at the end of May. Parents will get more information closer to the time.

Parents are reminded that supervision does not begin in the Kindergarten fenced area and the playground until 8:25.  Please note:  YMCA staff may be outside prior to this time supervising students who attend the YMCA program only.

We are busy preparing for some big events such as the  Gr 8 student/staff badminton tournament, our Kindergarten concert, Spring Book Fair, Grade 8 graduation to name just a few!

We will be welcoming a new member to staff soon as Mrs. Ranstoller is on leave for the remainder of the year.   We will welcome this new staff member in our weekly parent email.

Have a fantastic week.

Silver Creek celebrated Earth Day on Friday.  We hope you celebrated yesterday as a family as well! Every day should be Earth Day, but it's also a good thing to take one day to celebrate our home and remind us of the importance of protecting the air, water, soil and biodiversity that make up that home and on which we depend.

The first Earth Day was in 1970, and is the largest secular observance in the world, celebrated by more than a billion people every year, and a day of action that changes human behavior and provokes policy changes.

Today, the fight for a clean environment continues, as the impacts of climate change become more apparent every day. Be a part of Earth Day and help write many more chapters—struggles and victories—into the Earth Day book.

This Earth Day, schools across Halton participated in  Earth Day Clean-up events - in their school yards, in neighbouring parks and woodlots, working in concert with municipalities, NGOs and local businesses.

Plant a tree, pick up litter, protect our water, or just enjoy the environment - remember - the grass is greener when you get outside.
