EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY HILLWALKING CLUB - TRIP INFORMATION

Last amended December 2014

1. PAYMENT

The fee for a trip (including the membership fee) must be paid at the sign-up before a trip, except in the following circumstances:

2. REFUNDS

If you have already paid for a trip but want to cancel, please tell us as soon as possible. We will only be able to refund your trip fee if we can find a replacement to take your place. If you do not show up on the day of the trip we cannot refund your trip fee. Membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

2. TRIP CANCELLATION

The committee reserves the right to cancel any trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as road closures, dangerous weather/driving conditions or under subscription. If in the unlikely event that a trip is cancelled a refund may be available depending on the terms and conditions of the hostel that the trip will be visiting. By signing up to a trip you are agreeing to these conditions.

3. SUITABLE EQUIPMENT

If you come on a trip without suitable footwear or clothing, the walk organiser may refuse to take you on a walk due to the risk it poses to your safety and the safety of the group. Please see http://euhwc.eusu.ed.ac.uk/about/equipment for details of what equipment is required.

4. TRANSPORT

Drivers on all club trips are volunteer members. The committee will ensure that all drivers on trips are selected carefully and are known to be safe and responsible people. However the club and committee cannot accept liability. If you ever feel unsafe while travelling on a club trip it is your responsibility to let the committee know so that they can take suitable action.

If you would like to drive on trips please let the committee know – we are always looking out for more drivers and you receive a discount on the trip fee as a note of thanks.

5. WALK ORGANISERS

Every walk on a club trip will have a walk organiser and a seconder. It is at the discretion of the meet organiser as to who can organise a walk but before you can be considered it is advised to have the following experience:

Although it is the meet organisers responsibility to ensure that there are suitably qualified walk organisers, the club does not accept liability for the walks offered. Each individual is responsible for their own safety when on and off the hill. If you ever feel there is an inexperienced walk organiser on a club trip it is your responsibility to let the committee know so that they can take suitable action.

If you would like to walk organise please let any of the committee know – we are always looking out for more people to organise walks.
