Step One:  Upload the video to either Google Drive or YouTube...  arrow-right-icon.png

This can done directly from the phones from the "share" option...  help is available from the walk-in center (SL-19A)

Or, the video can be uploaded to Google Drive or YouTube from the computer

Method 1:  Upload to Google Drive

  1. Click on the “App Pad” symbol Screen shot 2016-02-18 at 11.47.40 AM.pngand then click on Search results   treglia fordham.edu   Fordham University Mail.png
  2. Click on the “New” button and select “File Upload” on the top left
  3. Choose your file and click “Open”

Method 2:  Upload to YouTube (**if you have not enable your Fordham YouTube channel, you will need to do so first, here are the directions)

  1. click on the “App Pad” symbol and then click on “more” at the bottom to go to your YouTube channel
  2. on the upper right side, click “login”
  3. click on the “upload” button (also on the upper right)
  4. choose your file (you’ll have to either choose it from your computer or download it from drive first)
  5. once it finishes processing (after it uploads, you’ll see a status bar with text), then you can choose to upload your image as a custom thumbnail**
  6. choose the privacy to be “unlisted”
  7. click “Done”

Step Two:  Grab the "html" code from either Google Drive or YouTube

Method 1:  Google Drive (more permissions available and can disable downloads)

  1. Choose your file and click “Open”
  2. Once it has uploaded, click on the file (note, your video will also need time to process before you are able to move on to the next step)
  3. Click on the “Pop-out” icon on the top right My Drive   Google Drive.png
  4. Click on the “Share” button, then click on “Advanced” to change who has access to view your video.  Also select “Disable options to download, print, and copy for commentators and viewers”.tumblr_mmanbmbPdc1s331oyo1_1280.jpg   Google Drive.png

  6. Click on the “More” button, then click on “Embed Item” to copy HTML code

Method 2:  YouTube (Fordham YouTube channel, part of portfolio) (**if you have not enable your Fordham YouTube channel, you will need to do so first, here are the directions)

  1. Go to the video manager (top of the page)
  2. Click on the video that you want to embed
  3. Click on “Share” (underneath the title of your video below the actual video)
  4. Click on “Embed”
  5. Copy the embed code you see
  6. go to blackboard, go to your course, go to where you want to post the video
  7. click on the “HTML” button on the text box editor

Step Three:  Paste the "html" code into Blackboard (this part is the same no matter where the video is uploaded)

  1. In your Blackboard course, go to where you want to post the video
  2. Click on the “HTML” button on the text box editor (if you only see one row of options on your text box editor, click on the double arrows all the way on the right to expand and show all three rows)
  3. Paste the embed code, and click “Update” (please note, you will see a yellow box, don’t worry, this is normal, it will work after you click “Submit” in the next step)
  4. Once you finish writing in the text box editor (directions etc), then click “Submit” as usual
