Assessment: As a class, we will create a comprehensive timeline covering Period 1 (1491–1607) and Period 2 (1607–1754) of U.S. History. Each student will be randomly assigned two events to research, analyze, and contribute to the class timeline; one from Period 1 and one from Period 2 |
Subdirections: You will be assigned two events from the list below, covering Period 1 and Period 2 of AP U.S. History. For your event, you must: - Write a brief description (1-2 paragraphs) explaining the event.
- Include a primary source or visual aid (image, map, document, etc.) related to your event.
- Include a Works Cited of your sources (primary and image) in MLA format
Structure: - Write a clear, concise explanation of your event, focusing on its significance.
- Provide a visual aid or primary source that represents your event.
- You will present your event to the class, after which it will be added to our class timeline.
Assessment Criteria: - Historical Explanation: Clearly explains the event and its significance (aligned with SS.SOC.APUSH.1.2).
- Contextualization: Provides relevant historical context (aligned with SS.SOC.APUSH.4.1 and 4.2).
- Connections: Explains how the event connects to other developments (aligned with SS.SOC.APUSH.5.2).
- Argumentation and Evidence: Makes a defensible claim supported with evidence (aligned with SS.SOC.APUSH.6.1 and 6.2).
- Historical Reasoning: Uses reasoning to explain relationships between evidence (aligned with SS.SOC.APUSH.6.3).
- Presentation and Visuals: Event is well-presented and includes a relevant visual aid or primary source.
