As a volunteer for the Turkey Student Refugee Coalition, your main responsibility is to provide peer-based language assistance in English or Turkish. You will also meet with your director every two weeks to discuss your progress with the students.
Everyone is invited to join as a volunteer! If you're interested in becoming a volunteer teacher for migrant, refugee, diaspora, or underprivileged students in Turkey or Afghanistan, simply fill out the application form when applications are open. Yes, there are. Volunteers who wish to teach in Turkish or English must have a high level of spoken proficiency in these languages. The Turkey Student Refugee Coalition does not require standardized test scores like Duolingo, IELTS, or TOEFL. However, volunteers must feel confident speaking during the lessons. Teaching may not be the right fit for you if you are not fluent in English or Turkish.
How are my volunteer hours tracked?
The Volunteer Management Office keeps track of your hours. Your volunteering time will be recorded based on your participation during each semester. Volunteer teachers are expected to commit one hour per week to lessons and one hour to feedback sessions.
If you need a certificate confirming your commitment to the program, please fill out the provided form, and it will be emailed to you before your requested deadline.
