Introduction example:
Buddhism is a religion with over 520 million followers, making it the 4th largest religion in the world. Buddhists do not worship a god, but instead follow a spiritual path focussing on the true nature of life.
Paragraph example 1:
Beliefs
Unlike other religions, Buddhists do not worship a god, but instead focus their beliefs on a spiritual pathway. This pathway was born from the Buddha’s discovery of the four noble truths:
As the buddhists believe there is suffering in life, the eightfold path acts as a prescription, or way to achieve a release from this suffering. This consists of:
The eightfold path is not meant to be completed in order, but is meant to act as the middle way. It encourages a simple approach to life. The buddhists believe in removing desire and appreciating what you do have. The eightfold path promotes learning and self-awareness and discovery. Other religions like Christianity, which have the ten commandments, could be seen as a code for living. However, these commandments act more like a direct order, whereas the eightfold path is meant more as a guideline.
Paragraph example 2
Beliefs
Unlike other religions, Buddhists do not worship a god, but instead focus their beliefs on a spiritual pathway. Essentially buddhists believe that suffering exists in life and to help ease this suffering one should follow the eightfold path. This is a set of guidelines that encourages one to live within moderation and to be happy with the things they have, rather than what they do not have. Similar to Buddhism, most religions encourage a way of living to support people through their life. This includes the ten commandments in Christianity and the five pillars of Islam. What separates buddhism from these, is that the eightfold path acts more as a guideline, rather than something you must do. Maybe the Hindu’s belief in dharmic behaviour is more closely comparative to the Buddhists way of life. The pathway of Buddhism promotes self-discovery and learning more about the true nature of life.
