July, 2054 A.D.

地球は謎の異星文明同士の戦闘に巻き込まれました

The Earth is caught in a battle between mysterious alien civilizations

私達の技術水準を遙かに超えた兵器による戦闘

They fought with weapons that eclipsed even our state of the art technology

その理由も知らされないまま

地球は蹂躙され 大地は焦土と化しました

For reasons beyond our comprehension the earth was ravaged, the land reduced to ash

事前に地球圏への戦闘の波及を察知していた

統合政府は 地球種汎移民計画 を発動

Before the fighting could spread to the geosphere, the unified government put the GLOBAL MASS EVACUATION PLAN into effect

世界の主要都市からは数多の

恒星間移民船が飛び立ちました

Many interstellar immigration ships took off from the major cities of the world

４５億年の間

生命を育んでくれた故郷からの脱出

To escape from their birthplace/home planet that had nurtured life for 4,500,000,000 years

ですが 移民船の多くは重力圏離脱の最中に

撃ち落とされ 無事脱出できた船はごく僅か

However, many of the ships were shot down while breaking through the gravisphere, and very few were able to escape safely

私達の乗る 白鯨 はそのうちの一隻でした

Our craft, the Moby Dick(lit. ‘white whale’), was one of those such ships

地球を後にし 放浪の旅に出て二年

After leaving the earth behind, we wandered space for two years

地球圏での戦闘から幸運にも

生き残ることが出来た私達でしたが

Thanks to our good luck, we were able to survive the battle on the geosphere, but

ついに異星文明の追撃部隊に

見つかってしまったのです

In the end, the alien civilization's pursuit forces caught up to us

軍の決死の応戦と 一人の英雄の活躍によって

追撃部隊は退けられましたが

The pursuit force was driven back thanks to [our]troops’ fighting spirit and the efforts of  a single hero, but

激しい戦闘で白鯨の主機関も大破

The Moby Dick's main engine was damaged by the battle

航行能力を失った白鯨は

未知の惑星の重力に捉まり

Lacking propulsion, the Moby Dick was caught in the gravitational field of an unknown planet

船体を崩壊させながら墜落していました

And crashed as the hull splintered apart

そして二ヶ月が経ちました

And so, two months passed...
