Mushroom Wall Version 1.1

Latest version 5/10/20145

The Void Pool

What is the Void Pool? UO Guide defines the Void Pool as, “a special spawn location inside of Covetous level 2.” It’s Ultima Online’s version of Survival that takes place in the Trammel dungeon of Covetous.

There is no known end to the Void Pool but a special banner is placed on the shard to hold the highest record and is usually a shard wide effort to complete. Outside of that there are several individual rewards available in the city of Cove for those who participate. These range from items to locate special resources to Haphaestus, Magical Fish Finder, or even an ephemeral version of the Blight of the Tundra.

Location

The Void Pool is located over the entire level 2 of the Covetous Dungeon in Trammel. The pool itself is situated in roughly the center of the dungeon with waves of monsters approaching from both the east and the west.

This makes it very easy to get pinched in and surrounded when trying to fight alone. Survival of a single player is possible through a few waves, but each wave gets progressively harder and harder. Eventually the all will be lost:

Welcome to the Mushroom Wall

In the image above you can see a single mushroom in a choke point near the void pool. This may seem like a silly place to put up a fight but it’s actually the most sensible. In the T-junction just to the south the east and west waves of the dungeon come together. This is where we make our stand!

Setting up the Wall

Study the image above. Know it by heart. This is where you learn where to stand, and what you do when you die. You will die, I hope you are insured, and I hope you have plenty in the bank as Void Pool monster’s don’t drop loot!

What each item represents:

This means a team total of 11 players MINIMUM is required to pull off the Mushroom Wall. Siege Perilous won the competition with what they considered a small number of 28  people. So more is better!

How does it work?

Hopefully well enough to secure a victory!

Joking aside this technique takes advantage of a small gameplay mechanic to prevent monsters from reaching the void pool. Players and tamed creates both ask like bag balls to us. With a united wall we can force them to bunch up and use AOE to take them down. Ranged classes will deal with stragglers, and tamers will just get in the way! (Don’t worry we need those meatshields as well!)

Your assignments:

Equipment

This section honestly needs more research. There are five different types of Void Pool armies to fight off: Abyss, Repond, Undead, Reptile, Elemental. At a glance Repond would be the easiest to fight as well as equip against. Needless to say the appropriate slayers would be ideal.

Time to get Started

All Militia members meet up in front of the entrance to Level 2. Nobody enters until the Go order is given. Everyone is split up into three squads. Squad 1 is one square on the Stone Wall and the Reinforcement behind it. Squad 2 and Squad 3 are the other two spaces. Healing Mages are assigned to each squad.

Warning: Healers will not always be partied with their squad. Parties will be divided up based on BARD attendance. 1 Bard? 1 Party. 3 Bards? 3 Parties.

Once the squads are set up and people are ready to support each other the Commander enters alone and sees the status of the pool. There is a 15 minute cool down between void pool attempts. During this cool down the Militia will deploy. Pack animals with supplies, beetles, and other mounts will be rushed to the Void Pool to be stashed by the pool itself. The three teams will take their places.

Skirmish Squad can now act as the initial scouts. They will be able to freely move and pick apart the first few waves. Stone Wall and Reinforcement members will stand by. Once the scouts are pushed back to the Stone Wall the real fight begins.

Everybody digs in until we win, or we die. Remember it took Siege 8 HOURS to complete this task. We wont’ do it day one, but the Void Pool Banner will be ours!
