Dear Whanau

Young Leaders Conference Monday 15 May 2017

This letter outlines our initial organisation for taking all our year 6 leaders to the National Young Leaders Day in Palmerston North.

Monday 15th May 2017

9.30am to 2.30pm

It also includes a permission slip that we would like you to fill in so we can confirm the number of tickets we will be needing (these have already been pre-booked and need to be paid for by the school to ensure our tickets are kept available).

We hope to have 42 year 6 students attending with Mr Anderson and  Mrs McAllister. ( We would be happy to take a parent with us, please let us know if you would like to attend with us to help with supervision.)

We have booked a bus to transport us to and from Palmerston North. To meet the

starting time of 9.30am we would need all students at the front gate by 5.00 am! Our

aim is to be back at school by 7.30pm. We plan as in other years to have tea in Hawera

on the way back.

THE PROGRAMME

NYLD events include motivational talks from great New Zealand leaders, question times, videos, music and interactive activities. The speaking team consists of leaders in business, sport, politics, community service, science and the arts. There is a strong sense on the day that the baton is being passed, as an older generation of leaders imparts their wisdom into the emerging generation of young leaders. The message of the day develops, as students are challenged not only to reach their own personal goals but the goals of those they are leading.

At this stage of our planning we envisage the cost per child to be around $80 (the tickets are $42.00 each - early bird price) the cost per child has been subsidised by money raised through the selling of juices and pizza through term 1 and the continuation of this in term 2. We may also have some other small fundraising activities that may help reduce the cost. WE encourage all our Year 6 students to support Pizza and Juicie sales!

you know further details.
