Student Agreement

I have read the AUP agreement and by signing, I am saying that I understand and will follow the agreement. I also understand that my school’s network and email accounts are owned by the school and are not private.  The school has the right to access my information at any time. I am ready to join the school's vision for Technology for Learning.

Parent Agreement

As the parent or guardian of this student, I have read the AUP and I agree to support my child’s use of Technology for Learning and his/her adherence to these guidelines. I understand that at “International School", Technology is provided for educational purposes and uses for any other purposes is contravening the AUP.  I understand that computer activities at home should be supervised too.

Teacher Agreement

As a teacher at our school, I have read the AUP and I will endeavor to integrate technology into learning,  to develop responsible digital citizens, and to educate about safe practices so that students can make informed and sensible decisions when online.

Our School's Vision

Digital technologies are integral to the lives of children in today's society, both within and outside of school.  Student-centered learning authentically integrates technology where appropriate to support and encourage inquiry-based learning.  Web 2.0 tools enable teachers and students to make meaningful connections and to empower creativity, innovation, and collaboration on a global scale. They give students access to worldwide resources and a worldwide audience.

We aim to provide a range of digital technologies and tools which:

·          encourage children's natural curiosity;

·          enable students to create, share and reflect on a global scale;

·          support and enhance authentic inquiry-based learning;

·          enable students to make deeper connections;

·          prepare students adequately for learning and living in the 21st Century.

Responsibility

Responsibility describes how we behave when using technology.

·          I will use technology to increase engagement and relevancy to my learning.

·          I will view, forward, share, and publish only appropriate material.

·          I will only do legal things.  If I witness something illegal, I will report it.

·          I will cite sources used in my learning.

·          I will protect computer equipment , networks, and software from harm. I will not disable school filtering tools.

Responsibility also describes the consequences for breaking the AUP Agreement

·          I will stop the inappropriate action (after 1st warning).

·          I will give up my right to access technology for that period (after 2nd warning).

·          I will know that if I continue  inappropriate behaviours after two warnings, the administration and parents will be notified

·          I will be aware that I may be denied my technology privileges for a time to be determined  and disciplinary action as per the school’s code of conduct may follow.

Respect & Protect

Respect and Protect describes how we relate to ourselves and to others, and how we use safe practices when interacting with others.

Respect & Protect Myself:

·          I will carefully consider the information and images that I post and how it describes my family, my school, my community, and myself

·          I will keep myself safe by only publishing my first name and not sharing my passwords

·          I will be positive about sharing my learning with others

Respect and Protect Others:

·      I will respect and protect others in the same way I respect myself

·      I will not use someone else's account

·      I will use technology to build and add community and that means not bullying or teasing people.  If I witness others not respecting themselves or others, I will report it.

·      I will make positive contributions

·      I will ask other people before I share their information, including images.

AUP-Purpose

In order to ensure the safe and appropriate use of the school's network and technological resources, we have developed an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) which all stakeholders involved need to agree to, to ensure proper usage.  Our school has also developed a Digital Citizenship Program that will take place throughout the school year, integrated in Units of Inquiry.

We will endeavor to ensure that all students are educated about safe practices, including use of social networks, understanding of personal privacy online, being public online, respect for copyright, and the need to protect the networks with which they are connected to. Our goal is that students will make informed and sensible decisions when online.

For the personal safety of students and that of the school's technological resources, it is expected that they conduct themselves as responsible digital citizens who respect and adhere to these guidelines.  All students are reminded that access to the school's network is a privilege that, if misused, can be withdrawn.

Our desire is that students will develop leadership skills in using computer technologies while being safe, legal, and responsible.  The following AUP outlines how our school community will be successful in this.

Prior to accessing the school's network and digital tools, the students, in partnership with their parents and teachers must agree to the Acceptable Use Policy and the Digital Citizenship Program.

Please read this AUP agreement together and sign your agreement to join our school's vision for Technology for Learning, as well as your agreement to the Digital Citizenship Program.

The AUP Agreement:
