Heating / Cooling / HVAC

Contractor: Southern Comfort HVAC
We've been struggling with heating issues for about two months now. The thermostat hovers around 67 degrees and sometimes lower on the coldest days--and that's even with electric heat. Thankfully, the unit is being replaced today by a company called Southern Comfort HVAC. They are here right now if anyone would like them to swing by and take a look. Otherwise, their number is 301-646-6319.
Craig Polk from Southern Comfort replaced my HVAC unit and the internal AUX heat thing in the ceiling (this took a special order because, yet again, the original builders went with uncommon systems for the units -- probably got a great deal from the manufacturer, who in turn received the promise of future high revenue, knowing nothing else would fit into the space designed for such a specialized unit). I was so pleased with his work and attention to other problems that came from shoddy original construction that I made sure to tell Randy so he could suggest to anyone who asked about a good company. Specifically, when Craig got into the ceiling he noticed that (yet again) the builder did not glue the drainage pipes together -- they literally just put them together without any sealant. And instead of just letting me know, he called, explained he would have to cut into the ceiling to make sure I did't get any leaks and then did all the work needed.
I am really happy with my new HVAC and personally recommend Craig @ Southern Comfort. I also like that is his business and that I'm supporting a small business owner with these repairs/replacements.
Contractor: WG Welsh
Contact: (301) 536-7262
When we moved in, in 2010, WG Welsh came in and got our unit fixed. It turned out that there was a kink in the copper line that prevented the coolant coming down from the roof. They replaced some amount of copper piping and all of the coolant, bill was about $750, and it worked well for a few years until we had another issue (that was my fault).
Goldstar used to use WG Welsh to service our building, and someone told me that WG Welsh actually did the HVAC installation in our building.

Were responsive via phone, were on time, reasonably priced and pleasant to work with. Charge $169 for the visit and first hour of work. Youd be surprised how much can get done in an hour
