Support Emergency Relief. Republicans in Harrisburg were successful in eliminating General Assistance-a program that provided temporary monetary relief for over 11,000 of the neediest Pennsylvanians. Now Democratic lawmakers are trying to revive the program with a new plan called the Emergency Relief Fund.Sponsored by Sen. Katie Muth (D-44) with counterparts in the PA House authoring similar legislation, this fund would replace General Assistance and provide about $200/month for the most vulnerable, e.g. people with disabilities, orphans, veterans, and those struggling with addictions. Contact your PA legislators and express your support for this life-saving program.
