Dear Marczi –

I got your last letter – and am sending back Genschow’s receipt of 27th Dec. ’34 – but this can’t be the most recent – because at the beginning of January as usual I sent 2000 francs – which you make no mention of in your letter – it’s odd – that Genshov – should notify you on Dec. 27th about a sum which went out at the beginning of Dec. I enclose the relevant document. Naturally from this distance I don’t know how they account for the 2000 francs that go to you – you need to be the one to make sure it all works correctly – I won’t approve the 2000 francs for February until I hear from you whether I should continue to send it to the same address – or would it not be better if I sent a French cheque to your address?

We set off from here on Feb. 5th – and on the evening of the 6th arrive at the following address: Golf Hotel Valesure [sic]

It will be interesting not to have to stay at an hotel – and once again there will be a great to-do – in Pest!

per St Raffael [sic] – Riviera – France. To Monsieur – P.A. de László – And we will definitely be there until 25th Feb – I’m tremendously looking forward to having a rest – because while we are here we have no peace.

Send me a reply to this letter without delay – What you say about the family – and especially about Dezső doesn’t surprise me^[1] – nothing is ever enough – but I am sick and tired of it – I sent presents to all their girls. Neither Szerén nor Gyula have written a syllable to me about it^[2] – Dear old chap – I had a very nice letter from Bárczy,^[3] he is a good fellow – Today I also had a letter from the Speaker of the House, Count Sándor Almásy^[4] – telling me that they want a portrait of the Regent to hang in parliament and that perhaps I can paint one over the course of four days while I am in Pest [110886] – and we might be Horthy’s guests. But for the love of God, please, not a word to anybody. Ever since word got out about me in Pest I have been bombarded by offers and begging letters – if the family asks, just tell them that I plan to go back to Pest but that is all you know.

We are well – there is a fearful amount to do before we leave – it will be good to relax for a bit – I have so many commitments – I will write from Valescure.

utolso levedet [sic] megkaptam – s íme vissza küldöm Genschow 27. Dec. 34. ről szóló értesítését – de ez nem lehet az utolso – mert Január első napjaiban mint rendesen küldtem 2000 frankot – melyről te nekem nem irsz – különös – hogy Genshov – teged Dec. 27 kén avizál egy összegről mely Dec. első napjaiban ment mellékelve küldöm a kivánt kivonatot. Természetesen én itt – nem tudom miként – szamolják a 2000 frankot át neked – neked kell tudnod hogy helyesen számolják e azt – A februára szóló 2000 frankot nem avizalom míg nem hallok tőled hogy továbbra e czímre küldjem e – avagy nem e lenne jobb ha én a franczia checket küldöm a Te czímedre?

Mi innét kedden feb. hó 5 én indulunk – s 6 ikán este erkezünk a következő czímre Golf Hotel Valesure [sic]

Irjál azonnal választ – a mit irtál a családrol – s különösen Dezsőről nem csodálom – soha nem elég – de beleuntam – leanyáinak mint ajándekokat küldtem. Szerén vagy Gyula egy szót sem írtak rola – Oregem – Bárczytol nagyon szep level jöt ő jó ember – Egyuttal a képviselőház elnöketól kaptam ma levelet Grof Almásy Sándor – hogy a képviselőház reszére kivanják a Regens arczképét s lehet hogy Pesti tartózkodásunk allatt négy napon belül megfestem – s lehet hogy Horthy vendége leszünk. De az Istenre kérlek senkinek nem szolani. A miota Pesten rólam irtak nincs nyugalom naponta jönnek ajánlat koldulo levelek – a családnak csak azt mond hogy tervem vissza fele Pestre járni mást nem tudsz

Mi jól vagyunk – rettenetes sok a dolgom mielőtt elindulunk – szép lesz pihenni egy kissé – sok a felelősegem – Valescureről írok
