Gauge using 5.0 mm hook: 14 Dc and 8 rows = 4”

Supplies:

• 5.0 mm hook
• 4.5 mm hook
• 3 Equal size buttons
• Needle to sew in loose ends

Neck Band: Using cream yarn & 4.5 mm hook

Round 1: ch 50

Round 2: dc in 3rd chain from hook and across. (48)

After you dc last st, sl st in same spot to round off the edge, fasten off.

Begin on tie:  Using cream yarn & 4.5 mm hook

Round 1: Skip first 21 st, attach yarn at st 22 and ch2. Hdc in same st,

hdc next 5 st. Turn, ch2 (6)

Round 2: Hdc across. Turn, ch2 (6)

Round 3: 2 hdc in first st, hdc until you reach the last st, 2 hdc last st.

Turn, ch2 (8)

Round 4-6: Hdc across. Turn, ch2 (8)

Round 7: 2 hdc in first st, hdc until you reach the last st, 2 hdc last st.

Turn, ch2 (10)

Round 8-10: Hdc across. Turn, ch2 (10)

Round 11: 2 hdc in first st, hdc until you reach the last st, 2 hdc last st.

Turn, ch2 (12)

Round 12-14: Hdc across. Turn, ch2 (12)

Round 15: 2 hdc in first st, hdc until you reach the last st, 2 hdc last st.

Turn, ch2 (14)

Round 16-20: Hdc across. Turn, ch2 (14)

Round 21 and on: Hdc decrease first 2 st together, hdc across til last 2 st, hdc decrease last 2 st together.

Continue in this manner until only one st remains.

Then ch1 and sc around entire piece.

Tie Cover: Using cream yarn & 4.5 mm hook

Round 1: Ch 16

Round 2: Hdc in 3rd chain from hook and across. (14)

Round 3: 2 hdc in first st, hdc in next 14 st, 2 hdc in last st. (16)

Round 4: Hdc across (16)

Round 5: 2 Hdc in first st, hdc next 16 st, 2 hdc in last st. (18)

F/o and sew on to tie.

Newborn Hat: Using Brown yarn & 5.0 mm hook

5.0 mm hook (All ch2 count as first chain)

Round 1.) Make a magic circle. Ch2, 12 dc in circle. (12)

Round 2.) Ch2, Dc in same stitch as join, 2 dc each st around. Join with sl st. (24)

Round 3.) Ch2, 2 dc in same st as join, *Dc next st, 2 dc next st* Repeat from * around. Join. (36)

Round 4.) Ch2, Dc in same st as join, Dc each st around. Join. (36)

Round 5-8.) Dc in same st as join, Dc each st around. (36)

Round 9.) Hdc in same st as join, Hdc each st around. (36) Fasten off.

Round 10.) Working in front loop only: Count 14 st away from seam, attach and ch1. Hdc in same st and next 11 st. Turn.

Round 11.) Ch1, Hdc dec, hdc across, hdc dec. Turn.

Round 12.) Ch1, sc around entire hat. F/o.

 Sew in loose ends.

Strap for Hat:   Using cream yarn & 5.0 mm hook

Round 1.) Ch 19 st. Hdc in 2nd chain from hook & across.

Round 2.) Ch1, sc around entire piece. F/o and leave tail for sewing in.

Sew on to hat and add buttons.
