Foreword:
Hello Commander.
Welcome to Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium (abbreviated as GFL2 or GF2).
GFL2 is an XCOM-like gacha game developed by MICA Team. It has a heavy emphasis on story, character development and world building.
Set 10 years after the events of GFL1. The Commander (you, though portrayed as a distinct character within the GFL universe) goes into self-exile after certain events and is drawn back into the fray by forces beyond their control.
GFL2 is available on both mobile (Android and iOS) and PC (PC Client).
There is no requirement to play the preceding game, GFL1, before diving into GFL2. Both games are largely independent, with only a few references connecting them.
This “Starter Pack” is designed to provide you, the reader, with enough information to play the English release of GFL2, offering insights into the game’s mechanics and what you should aim for.

Starting Out…
Tutorial
It is highly recommended to complete the game's tutorial, as it teaches you the basic controls and rewards you with Collapse Crystals and Standard Pulls.

Starter Guide:
Written by Armored Neko(ex-translator) (felinegatlingcatus) - GFL2 Discord
Tips:
- Don’t reroll: The result of your first 100 rolls does not matter as the game hands out gacha tickets at a very generous pace.
- Use the Rewind button: A function that should be industry standard and it allows you to return to any previous turns/rounds in your current mission. Remember to use it whenever you make a mistake.
- Use the “sweep” button. Once you clear all sub-objectives for a mission you can auto farm it with once click—it will still consume stamina but it takes exactly 0 seconds, a huge time saver.
- The game is 100% F2P friendly—a lot of F2P players got every doll in the game after a few months. If you want to spend any money at all however, buy the battle pass first. It gives you the best weapons in the game, along with a ton of useful materials.
Early Game:
Account level 1-40.
- Leveling up your account level is the name of the game until you max it out. In the early game it mostly comes down to story chapters as they hand out account exp.
- Remember to do your dailies! They hand out quite a bit of account exp per day.
- The only things you need to do in addition are Doll EXP Farm (Depth Exploration), Weapon EXP Farm (Equipment Analysis) and limit break materials (Decision Conformation) to keep your Doll and Weapon levels up to date.
- You get materials back from disassembling a weapon so don’t be afraid to level up purple even blue weapons.
- There are nice first-time clear bonuses for every content but other than that you don’t need to care about them, for now. Your starting members are fully capable of carrying you through this entire period so get used to them.
- There’s no harm trying out new members as leveling them up to level 30 is dirt cheap. A decent team would be Groza, Cheeta, Krolik and Sharkry. You might get Sharkry a bit late but she gets a major power boost from Krolik and can stay in your team forever, she’s that good despite being a SR Doll.
Mid game:
Account level 40-50
- As leveling up requires increasingly more exp, first-time clearing rewards are no longer enough. Make sure to complete your daily commissions and spend any naturally recovering stamina then wait for the next day—It’s a grind just like any other F2P game.
- Try not to spend your Stamina refills just yet as you get a lot more value from them in the end-game.
- You should have noticed but most AOE based dolls start to fall off as enemies get beefier, it’s only going to get worse and no amount of upgrade will change this, just kick them out of your team.
- The only exception is Verply who has other duties like doing vanguard things and crowd control. Now you should do the remaining two farming stages, attachment farm (Targeted Research) and gold farm (Standardized Synchronization). They serve the common goal of getting attachments for your guns.
- For the moment don’t worry about attachments too much just make sure everyone has a set of purple and call it a day. If you haven’t done those already it’s a good time to start your sim battles (Intel Assessment) adventure, especially the skill tree material farm that’s used in your dolls’ skill tree tab.
Late game:
Account level 50-60 (Max)
- Your dolls get a major power boost once they get past level 50 and it’s a perfect time to start working on those weapon attachment farms. While you can do it as early as level 45 these 5 levels will make it much easier. (Although we recommend you to rush to level 58 since it unlocks the last equipment level which gives the most gold equipment)
- Congratulations! you unlocked the ultimate end game, le attachment grind. The ultimate goal is having all attack/crit on everything because defensive stats are literally useless.
- As for set bonuses, get Anomalous Strike sets for damage dealers, Emergency Repair for healers, and Damage Reduction Support for Bulwarks to start with. But eventually, some dolls will require more specialised sets eg. Live Ammo Amplification
- Getting the best attachments will literally take you forever but let’s start small with just any attack stats and don’t forget to upgrade them.
- You are now also free to complete anything else in the game including both PVP modes, Boss Challenges, Peak Estimation, Advanced Training, and everything in the limited time tab.
- These can be legit hard at times so good luck and have fun. One last thing on gachas. Technically you have enough free pulls for every Doll but it can get tough. Feel free to skip banners as this game re-run limited banners regularly so there’s really no missing out to speak of.
Story Mode
At the release of GFL2, 5 or 6 story chapters should be unlocked. Completing them will help you quickly gain Commander levels, allowing you to progress faster and unlock resource stages and other content for earning daily/weekly Collapse Crystals.
Additionally, these stages will reward you with Collapse Crystals and Standard Pulls.

Daily Quests
Complete various daily tasks, such as logging in, spending 120 Stamina, and completing one Resource Stage.
Earning 80 points will reward you with Commander Experience and 60 Collapse Crystals.

Advice on efficiently spending your stamina:
Please focus your resources solely on raising your doll’s stats in the early game, this includes Depth Exploration, Equipment Analysis, Decision Conformation (Resources stages) and Intel Assessment (Simulation stages).
For mid to late game it is highly recommended you put 100% (yes, 110%) of your stamina into attachment gacha (Targeted Research) since it is the only way to increase your doll’s combat capability assuming most if not all of your dolls and weapons are already level 60 with fully unlocked skill trees. In your late game, most of the doll/weapon levelling resources can be obtained during event exchanges and clear rewards so don’t worry about that
The simulation stage daily quest can be done with game modes that do not require stamina eg. Boss Challenge, Live Combat Drill. So just go ham and put all your stamina in equipment attachments gacha (and still get jackshit since the odds are absurdly low)
Standardized Synchronization is not worth it because the gold it gave is pathetic compared to other methods of gold acquisition eg. events exchange, blue ticket exchange, clear rewards etc. You can clear it for the sake of getting the first clear reward and farm achievement (which requires you to clear this 100 times)
Battle Pass
- A battle pass system is available in GFL2, providing progression materials such as Combat Reports, Weapon Reports, Skill Tree Materials, Cores, Sardis Gold, Standard Pulls, and more.
- There are 3 tiers:
- Free tier
- Paid tier
- The paid tier gives extra progression materials, a Signature Weapon Selector Box (limited to a fixed pool of Signature Weapons of Standard rarity Dolls), more Standard Pulls, Premium Pulls, and more Collapse Crystals.
- Paid tier with bonuses
- This provides an extra 10 levels to the battle pass, 600 Collapse Crystals, 100k Sardis Gold, 5 Stamina Tickets and an exclusive ID Frame.
- To progress in the battle pass, you will need to complete certain objectives daily and weekly.

Community Systems
Friend Support
- Friend support can be called if you require assistance with story stages and resource farming maps.
- Friend support is not allowed in all simulators and PVP.

Guild System
- Unsure if this will be released on EN’s release, but you can form a guild with a group of people.
- Guilds reward you with Collapse Crystals, [Hope Tokens], and Standard Pulls upon completion of certain stages and [Dust Frontline] point milestones.
- Doing daily commissions and [Dust Frontline] will provide Reputation to your guild, leveling it up and the guild will provide you with more daily supplies.

- Daily Commissions can be done once a day, and will reward you with 20 Collapse Crystals and 550 [Hope Tokens].

- [Dust Frontline] is a “Kill the boss within 7 turns” mission, where you earn as many points as possible.
- There will be a fixed buff every [Dust Frontline] season, as well as 5 rotating buffs.
- You can do [Dust Frontline] 2 times a day, and a 3rd time if you pay 50 Collapse Crystals.
- Each [Dust Frontline] season lasts for 7 days, with a 14 day off-season. (Usually one season per patch)

- Compete against other guilds in the server to get the highest points possible.
- This is a ranking mode against other guilds, with different tiers of rewards at the season.

- [Dust Frontline] End of Season Guild Rewards:
- Top 5%:
- 500 Collapse Crystals. 6000 [Hope Tokens]
- Top 10%:
- 450 Collapse Crystals. 5000 [Hope Tokens]
- Top 20%:
- 400 Collapse Crystals. 4000 [Hope Tokens]
- Top 50%:
- 350 Collapse Crystals. 3000 [Hope Tokens]
- Top 100%:
- 300 Collapse Crystals. 2000 [Hope Tokens]
Living Area
The Living Area features the Dormitory, Dispatch Room, and Weapon Showcase Room.

Dormitory
The Dormitory features a 360-degree free camera, allowing you to watch your favorite Dolls as they go about their activities.
This is also a place where you might find yourself spending a lot of time.

Dispatch Room
The Dispatch Room has multiple modules, each with their own function.
- Dispatch Menu: Send out up to 5 squads of Dolls to do commissions, rewarding you with items such as Combat Reports, Weapon Reports, Affinity items, and more. Each Commission is 20 hours long.

- Dispatch Room Levels: The Dispatch Room also has levels, which can only be increased by raising your Affinity with Dolls. Dispatch Room levels also provide passive bonuses to other Dispatch Room Modules and the stats of your Dolls.

- Stamina Storage: Up to a certain number of Stamina overflow can be converted and stored here, up to 40 Stamina. The conversion rate can be increased via leveling the Dispatch Room.

- Resource Production: You can set either one of the main resources into passive production. The rate of production and maximum storage can be increased via leveling the Dispatch Room

A Few Advice for Dispatch Room:
- Since the dispatch room gives a lot of benefits to the stats to all your dolls and other resources, and affection levels are exponentially harder to raise as it rises up. It is advised to get all the dolls to at least level 1 (preferably level 2) to increase your dispatch room levels efficiently.
- Take your extra stamina out daily, for the grind for resources never ends
- Conversion of resources to mysterious tokens is not recommended, since you will always be starved of these resources
Banners
Beginner Banner
- The first 50 pulls in the Standard Banner will be part of the Beginner Banner.
- The pulls will have a 20% discount, requiring only 8 Standard Pulls to perform 10 pulls.
- You will be able to get one of the following Elite Dolls, guaranteeing at 50 pulls.
- Once the 50 pulls are completed, the banner will disappear.
- Do NOT convert Collapse Crystals to Standard Pulls, you will be able to get enough for this banner just by playing the story mode campaign.

- The standard banner is permanent.
- Standard pulls are required to pull for the Standard Banner.
- 10 Standard pulls can be exchanged for 1,500 Collapse Crystals.

- Elite Dolls or Signature Weapons can be selected at any time to be placed on rate-up, increasing the probability of getting them to 50%.

- You are guaranteed to pull a Standard Doll, Standard Weapon, Elite Doll, or Signature Weapon every 10 pulls.
- The base rate for Elite Dolls and Signature Weapons is at 0.6%.

- Pity starts from 58 pulls, increasing the rate of an Elite pull to 1.89%.
- You are guaranteed an Elite pull at 80 pulls (Soft Pity). After acquiring an Elite pull, the pity count will be reset.

- There will be an Elite Doll Selector after performing 260 Normal Banner pulls, where you can choose the Doll you want among the below selection.
- Do NOT fast track to the Elite Doll selector with Collapse Crystals, you will be able to afford this selector after a few months of gameplay.

Advise with banners:
- Pull with your dick and not your brain
- Do NOT convert your collapse crystals into standard pull since you can always get the dolls in the standard pool anytime
- Consult other doll-specific guides for the appropriate amount of vertebrates you need for the doll to be effective
Pull Exchange Tickets
- Other than getting Weapons and Dolls in different grades, you also get blue and yellow tickets upon getting Dolls and Weapons, depending on their rarity:
| R | SR | SSR |
Blue Tickets | 2 | - | - |
Yellow Tickets (Upon acquisition) | - | 12 | 60 |
Yellow Tickets (Upon dismantling or already V6) | - | 18 | 90 |

Blue Ticket Exchange Shop
- Blue exchange tickets can be exchanged for many items, such as Premium and Standard Pulls, Combat Reports, Weapon Reports, Skill Tree Materials, and Attachment Boxes.
- The exchange shop resets once per month, on the 1st day of the month.

Yellow Ticket Exchange Shop:
- Yellow tickets can be acquired via rolling Standard and Elite rarity Dolls and Weapons, as well as dismantling Standard and Elite rarity weapons
- Dolls will be automatically converted to yellow tickets if you get them after V6, these tickets can be used to get Signature weapons of some Dolls as well as Premium and Standard pulls.
- The Signature weapons have an exchange limit of 1 per month.
- The pulls are permanent and do not have an exchange limit.

Advise with Pull Exchange Tickets:
- Always exchange your blue tickets for both standard and premium pulls when they reset at the start of the month
- Some weapons in the yellow ticket exchange are worth 900 tickets eg. Tololo and QiongJiu’s signature weapon if you don’t have it yet, but generally you want to exchange all of your yellow tickets for premium pulls
Character/Weapon Management
Armory
- This is where you manage your Doll’s levels, skills, key preset, Spiral, weapon levels, weapon attachment preset, and more!
- This is also where you can interact with your Doll, by pressing the interact button beside your Doll.
- There are multiple interactions per Doll, discover how you can trigger them!

Limit Break
- Upon reaching level 20, 30, 40, and 50, your Doll will not be able to level up further unless you limit break, each limit break uses gold and various materials you can get at Decision Conformation in the resources stages.

Spiral or Vertebrae:
- You get one vertebra every time you roll a doll that is already present in your dorm, each vertebra gives different buffs/augmentations to the doll’s skills. Please refer to other guides to see which vertebrae give you the highest spike in ability.
- A lot of translated EN guides use V as an abbreviation for vertebrae (V0 meaning you only get the doll but never got any dupes and V6 meaning you fully max out the dupes)

Skill Tree (Neural Helix)
- Neural helix will enhance your Doll’s stats as you unlock it, these upgrades will be available for you to unlock as your doll’s level increases. The materials used can be farmed at Intel Assessment in simulation battles.

Key System:
- As you progress through the skill tree, more fixed keys will be available to unlock for you.
- These keys require cores and gold to unlock. Elite dolls (gold dolls) require 3 Cores per fixed key, while normal dolls (purple dolls) require 1 Core per fixed key.
- The Doll’s stats will be buffed by 2%, 6% and 12% as 2, 4, 6 fixed keys are unlocked respectively. Upon unlocking all fixed keys. A common key will be available to unlock for free.

Keys:
- Keys augment the Doll's existing skills and can generally be categorized as Fixed Keys and Common Keys:
Fixed keys: Can only be equipped by the Doll that unlocked that key, provides augmentations to the Doll's skill (On the left)
Common keys: Can be equipped by all other Dolls as long as you have unlocked it, it offers various buffs to the Doll (On the right)

Advice in character management:
- In the beginning, focus on raising certain dolls that you often use for map clearing instead of raising all of them as you will not have enough resources to do so
- Refer to other doll-specific guides for the recommended amount of vertebrae level
- Some dolls have different key combos that are effective in certain scenarios, so feel free to mix and match those combos
Weapons
- Weapons come in 3 grades: Blue (Retired Gun series), Purple (Standard Gun series), and Gold (Character Exclusives and Battle Pass Exclusives).
- Weapons can be upgraded up to level 60, and be upgraded with duplicates up to 5 times.
- Each duplicate will enhance the weapon’s special skill by a certain percentage.
- Currently most EN guides will use R to denote weapon duplicate level (R1 being you have the weapon but no duplicates, R6 being max duplicate)
- There are 7 weapon types in GFL2:
- Handgun (HG)
- Submachine Gun (SMG)
- Assault Rifle (AR)
- Sniper Rifle (RF)
- Shotgun (SG)
- Machine Gun (MG)
- Melee (ME)

Attachments
- There are 4 types of attachments per weapon type.
- All attachments, except the barrel, come with an attachment skill. You can choose which attachment skill to farm in Targeted Research, and you'll obtain it with a 100% success rate.
- Barrels have 4 substats, while all other attachments have 3.
- The substats are randomly assigned upon acquisition and cannot be rerolled.
- The substats’ base stat are also random upon acquisition and cannot be enhanced.
- The substats available on all attachments are:
- Flat Attack
- % Attack
- Critical Rate
- Critical Damage (Barrel Only)
- Flat Defense
- % Defense
- Flat HP
- % HP
- The best in slot for attachments are:
- Flat Attack
- % Attack
- Critical Rate
- Critical Damage (Barrel Only)

Attachment Skills:
Batch 1:
- Ultimate Pursuit

- Increases Attack, Healing, and Defense of Ultimate skills by 5%. Gains 1 stack after each use of an Ultimate skill, up to a maximum of 4 stacks.
- Double Strategy

- If the enemy target is not in cover, increase single target damage by 10%; if the enemy target is in cover, increase AoE damage by 10%.
- Anomalous Strike

- Deals 15% increased damage to enemy targets with Elemental Debuffs.
- Anomalous Resonance

- If the Active Skill can counter the enemy (Counter Element or Ammo Type), gain [Anomaly Boost I] before attacking for 1 turn. If it can double counter (Counter Element and Ammo Type), deal an additional 10% damage.
- [Anomaly Boost I]: Increase damage by 10% when countering the enemy.
- Emergency Repair

- If the target’s HP is full after being healed by an active skill, increase the target’s Stability by 2 points. Can be triggered a maximum of 1 time per turn.
- Damage Reduction Support

- When using Defense-type skills, grant [Area Defense II] to ally units for 2 turns.
- [Area Defense II]: Reduce AoE damage by 20%.
Batch 2:
- Live Ammo Amplification

- Increase Physical Damage by 20%.
- Incendiary Ammo Amplification

- Increase Fire Damage by 20%.
- Cryo Ammo Amplification

- Increase Cryo Damage by 20%.
- Corrosive Ammo Amplification

- Increase Corrosion Damage by 20%.
- Electrical Ammo Amplification

- Increase Electrical Damage by 20%.
- Turbid Ammo Amplification

- Increase Turbid Damage by 20%.
Attachment Upgrades
- Attachments can be upgraded infinitely, and can be rerolled until you are happy with the upgrade.
- Attachment fodder and Sardis Gold are required to upgrade and reroll attachments.

- Precision Tuners can be consumed to boost the upgraded stats, each precision tuners boost 1 line of stat, with the cost of paying more gold the most tuners used per calibration
- Precision tuners are a bad idea because the amount of extra gold spent does not justify the amount of boost you receive
- See https://docs.google.com/document/d/1awPzsvplCoNNp13O0lZ2jxVVc7NzFEPMVtXnjTIPRyo/edit?usp=sharing for more

- Attachments can be upgraded up to 200% of their base stat.
- You can choose to accept or drop attachment rerolls.

Weapon Transmog System
- Weapons and Attachments can be transmogged to weapons and attachments that you’ve unlocked.
- Weapon and Attachment types must be the same.
- This means you cannot transmog an Assault Rifle into a Shotgun, Red Dot Sights into a Barrel, etc.

Advice in weapon management:
- Some dolls are more effective using other doll’s signature weapons (please refer to other doll-specific guides for more information)
- If you don’t have the best sub-stats combo for attachments, it is still fine to use attachments with only 2-3 “good” sub-stats at the beginning, upgrade them without precision tuners and replace them later
- Precision boosters are Not-recommended unless you plan to calibrate only once per attachment
Game Mechanics
- Like XCOM, you move your Dolls in a grid-like system, then select a target to attack.
- Different Dolls have a different range of movement, as depicted in their mobility range stat.

Movement
- Movement is the stat determining your mobility in the game, every character has a base movement stat which can increase or decrease based on buffs and debuffs.
- As shown below with 0 as the tile unit is currently standing on, the numbers represent the minimum movement a character needs to reach the tile in an action.

Cover
- Both your Dolls and enemy units can take cover behind low terrain, walls, and other terrain objects, as depicted with the shield icon.

- Cover grants both your Dolls and the enemy units with 35% cover bonus, in the defense calculation (NEED CONFIRMATION)

Stability
- Stability (depicted on the shield icon beside your Dolls and enemy units) is a system where units can get a flat 60% defense when they have Stability.
- You and your enemies will not be able to take cover once the stability is at 0
- Once stability is at 0, the 60% defense bonus is nullified.

Support Skills
- Support Skills allow Dolls to perform attacks outside of their action.
- There are 3 main types of Support Skills in GFL2:
- Counterattack
- Performs an attack after an enemy within range attacks self/ally units. Eg. Groza,Sabrina
- Ambush
- Performs an attack before an enemy within range attacks self/ally units. Eg. Macchiato,Daiyan,Jiangyu
- Supporting Fire
- Performs an attack on an enemy within range before or after an allied Doll does Precise or AOE damage to that enemy . Eg. Qiongjiu,Petriya,Mosin nagant

Reinforcements
- Reinforcements from enemies can be seen as orange silhouettes, they will spawn the next turn.
- If a unit is standing on top of the silhouette, the reinforcing unit will spawn next to the intended spawning location.

Detailed Stats
- Detailed statistics of your unit and enemy units can be seen, after clicking the character, and then the character silhouette at the bottom left of the screen.
- Attributes, skills, buffs and debuffs can be seen from this window.
- In the UI buffs are White coloured, Debuffs are Red coloured, Undispellable buffs or debuffs are yellow coloured.
