(Part 1)

The children will be able to identify living things. 

What Gifts did God give us?

  1. Ask the children what they remember what God created.
  2. Reread the story of creation.
  3. Have children place pictures on a board remnant as I tell about each thing god created.
  4. Tell the children that we will learn about people, animals, and plants.
  5. Have the children sing “God Made the World.”
  6. Distribute activity p. 71.
  7. Have the children take a “walk” with me through the park with their fingers.
  8. Have the children point to the flowers, the birds, the animals, the trees.
  9. Remind the children that god made all these things for you and me.
  10. Have the children paint “soil” with brown paint.
  11. Ask the children the following questions: What gifts did God give us? How can we use these gifts? What can we do to take care of God’s gifts?

  2. Tell the children that we will talk about trees and flowers.
  3. Have the children make trees to add to the mural by having the children use their hand print.
  4. Distribute activity p. 72.
  5. Review what living things need.
  6. Have the children point to the things that are alive on the activity p. 72.
  7. Have the children place a star on something that is not alive on activity p. 72.

  4. Talk about the different colors of butterflies.
  5. Read “Wishing for Wings.”
  6. Discus the life cycle of a butterfly.
  7. Have the children tell the sequence of the life cycle of the a butterfly.
