“Our greatest fulfillment lies in giving ourselves to others.”
Next week, the students’ progress reports will be sent home on Tuesday, November 1st. Then, parents and teachers will have the opportunity to discuss the progress their children are making at our interviews on the afternoon and evening of Thursday, November 3rd. We are using the youcanbook.me program to book online this year. You can book a 10-minute interview with the teacher of your choice by clicking here.
St. Stephen will be having a Scholastic Book Fair November 1-3. We are looking for volunteers for all 3 days. Contact email@example.com if your are able to volunteer Tuesday, November 1st, from 8:30-11:30am or 12:00-3:00pm, or Wednesday November 2nd, from 8:30-11:30am or 12:00-3:00pm, or Thursday November 3rd, from 8:30-11:30am or 12:00-3:00pm or 3:00-8:00pm. In your email, please include your name, phone number, child's name and grade and the date/time your are available.
We will continue our United Way Fundraising this week, on Friday, October 28th, with Black and Orange day. Students and staff are encouraged to bring in a Toonie to support the United Way and to wear black and orange clothing. We will also be having a jack-o-lantern raffle, where students can win pumpkins prepared and decorated by classes in the school. Tickets are 50 cents each, or three for a dollar. The draw will be held on Friday afternoon.
Drop Off/Pick Up
In order to ensure the safety of our students, we are reminding all parents that if they are dropping off or picking up their children, please do not enter the bus lane in front of the school between 8 and 9am, and from 2:30-3:30 pm. If parents are driving their children to school, they should arrive between 8:15 and 8:20am and use the drop off lane (on the right/sidewalk side of the parking lot). Students should exit on the passenger side, to the sidewalk on the right. Please do not park and exit your vehicle, unless you are dropping off a Kindergarten student. When exiting the parking lot, please follow the arrows that are painted on the pavement.
The milk program began on Monday. Thanks to the Grade 6 students who have volunteered to help pass out the milk to all of the classrooms. The food program also begins this week, with Pita Pit lunch, for all those who ordered, on Wednesday, October 26th.
Lucy Charbonneau, a registered dental hygienist with Ottawa Public Health, will provide a dental screening using a tongue depressor on November 1st and November 2nd for JK, SK and Grade 2 students, as well as any other children as necessary. If your child’s grade is not selected, but you wish for the dental hygienist to see him/her, please advise the school.
