Thurs. 6/1: Mahjong 2 pm   A group for beginning to advanced Mahjong players.  Play an ancient game of skill, strategy and luck.

Thurs. 6/1: 6:30 pm  Borrow Seeds & Make Your Garden  Staff member Mary Van Keuren will briefly show members the library’s seed exchange and talk about the variety of seeds she had donated by various seed companies.  She will also explain how the seed exchange works.  This is a great way to start a tiny garden without risking much financially since there is no charge for the seeds!

Fri. 6/2: Teen Time 3 pm  for ages 13 and up.  Meet with other teens and decide on something fun to do.  Choose from such activities as: videogaming, crafting, snacking, playing games such as Jack Box Party Pack or Secret Hitler. Or just come and meet some new people and hang out in a judgment-free space!

Fri. 6/2: 1 pm- 3 pm Visit the library and remember to congratulate June Hamell on her retirement.  June Hamell has proudly served the library for 22 years.  She will be missed by everyone tremendously!

Mon. 6/5: Macedon Senior Luncheon  Noon

Mon. 6/5: 1 pm  Mindfulness and Meditation  Learn how to practice being fully present in the moment and enhance your overall well-being. This is an interactive workshop that will include a discussion about what mindfulness is and why it can be useful. Participants will also partake in mindfulness exercises and learn ways to practice mindfulness on their own. This workshop is presented by Dr. Maria Saavedra who is a clinical psychologist. Tues. 6/6: Tulip Earrings 6 pm  Register to make a cute pair of tulip earrings.  All tools and supplies provided free of charge by the library.  Space is limited.  Call 315-986-5932 to register.

Weds. 6/7:  7 pm  Final Entrepreneur Workshop

Thurs. 6/8: Memory Lane 2 pm  This is a program targeted at those with dementia.  Participants are encouraged to reminisce through the use of a variety of props.  Participants may also choose to bring in their own special items to share with others.  While the participants are engaged in the program, caregivers may use the time to browse the library and and to socialize with other caregivers.  New members always welcome!

Sat. 6/10: Puppy Tales  2 pm Your struggling reader may enjoy sharing a story with a non-judgmental listener.  Or your advanced reader may just want to share stories with a furry friend.  All ages are invited to read to our therapy dogs.  No registration required, just drop-in!

Mon. 6/12: Sample the Sweetness of A Heart for God  7 pm  Does God really care what I am doing in life?  How is God's heart like mine? Join us for a sample presentation from Michelle Castelli’s new book, A Heart for God, that answers these questions by looking at how men and women from the Bible experienced the heart of God, and how God's heart touches your life daily. A dessert reception will follow with a chance to meet the author and ask any further questions.

Tues. 6/13: First Time Home Buyer Education 6 pm  Attend an informational session provided by Marie Hensley from Lyons National Bank aimed at first time home buyers.  Lyons National Bank is a participant in the First Home Club (FHC).  The FHC is a special savings club for first time home buyers and offers a 4 to 1 match up to $7500 toward buying a home.  To qualify as a first time home buyer, participants must either have not owned a home for the past 3 years or never owned a home.  Registration is required; there is no fee or obligation associated with attending.

Weds. 6/14 Iris Folding 1 pm  Paper crafters may want to join this group to learn how to use a special folding technique to make beautiful homemade cards.  Bring pretty paper, glue, scissors and cardstock.  If you have never done iris folding before, the people in attendance will be happy to show you how it is done.  It is easy to learn and a great hobby that yields beautiful greeting cards for friends and family!

Thurs. 6/15: Friends Meeting  1 pm  Join a group of people dedicated to working on projects that raise funds to support literacy, programming and other services at Macedon Public Library.  New members are always welcome!

Sat. 6/17: Classic Cars in the Lot 1 pm Calling all classic car owners: the Macedon Public Library invites you to park your car gem in the library’s parking lot beginning at 1 pm.  Enjoy flaunting your car and attend a classic rock ‘n roll concert at 2 pm.  Cars from the 50s, 60s and 70s are especially desired.  Call 315-986-5932 for more details.

Sat. 6/17: Classic Rock ‘n Roll Concert with Xylophunk  2 pm Enjoy some classic Rock ‘n Roll performed by a newly assembled, local band.  The young musicians will perform a variety of tunes such as: Ain’t No Sunshine, Hit the Road Jack, Come Together, Stand By Me and My Girl.  There is no fee to attend and all ages are welcome!

 

Sat. 6/17:  Kitty Tales  3 pm  Drop in and read to a non-judgmental kitty.  An excellent way to improve fluency while enjoying a furry friend.

Sat. 6/17: Rocket Launch! 3 pm  Cub Scout Pack 166 is partnering with the Macedon Public Library to launch rockets and to celebrate eleven boys who earned one or more rockets during their annual fundraiser.  Come watch as the scouts launch their rockets and find out how much fun scouting can be!  Also, try launching a bottle rocket using a launch pad provided by the Pioneer Library System.  If possible, bring your own 2 liter bottle filled with water to participate.  This event is going to be a blast for all ages, and everyone in the community is welcome to participate!

Mon. 6/19  Senior Dinner  5 pm

Mon. 6/19 - Sat. 7/1  Summer Reading Registration   Sign the whole family up for six glorious, fun-filled weeks of “Build A Better World” themed summer reading programming at Macedon Public Library.  Children will record their reading in architecturally-themed passbooks weekly and earn weekly small prizes in addition to a chance to win larger, weekly raffle prizes.  Teens will also have fun prize raffles connected to reading progress.  For adults, there will be weekly basket raffles and a single raffle ticket will be earned for each book that is read.  No matter what age or stage, participants will have fun as they read lots of good books!  Registration Monday through Thursday from 10 am until 8 pm, Friday and Saturday from 1 pm until 5 pm. Register soon to have the best chances to win a fun prize!

Tues. 6/20  Mosaic Dangle Earrings 6 pm  Register to make a stylish pair of brightly colored, dangle earrings.  All tools and supplies provided free of charge by the library.  Space is limited.  Call 315-986-5932 to register.

Weds. 6/21 Floating Candle in a Mason Jar Bug Catcher 6 pm  Shelly Conboy will teach participants how to make a very classy luminary that will attract and trap pesky insects at outdoor events.  These catchers will enchant guests with the light from the candle reflecting and dancing on the water inside the jar, meanwhile the bugs will be seduced into oblivion by a special blend of scents.  There is a fee of $6 for the supplies.  Registration is required.  Call the library at 315-986-5932 to register.

Mon. 6/26:  Celebrate Summer Vacation Scooter Relay!  1 pm  Have a fantastic time participating in scooter relays using the library’s scooters. Compete for fun and then cool off with a freeze-pop when the tournament is over.  Recommended for ages 8-12 years.  

Mon. 6/26: Library Board Meeting  6:30 pm  Public welcome to attend.  Those interested in becoming a Macedon Public Library Trustee are encouraged to attend and find out what happens at a library board meeting.  Must be a resident of the Town of Macedon to be a trustee.

Tues. 6/27:  Eco-Friendly Bag  6:30 pm  Bring an old, but still pretty, t-shirt and Pam Dibble will show you how to turn it into a handy bag!  The bag could be used for grocery shopping, going to the beach or even as a unique purse!  Registration is required.  No fee to attend.
