Schroeder YMCA Swim Team

1. The Sixth Annual Friends of Schroeder Campaign has a goal of $30,000!  We have raised over 19,000 dollars so far. We will be doing this campaign for one more week.  Please consider giving if you have not done it already!  It’s easy to Donate Now! follow the link to the front page of our site - it’s the green button

2. National YMCA meet  27 Schroeder Athletes will travel to Greensboro, NC for the the 2014 National YMCA Swimming Championships on Sunday.  All pertinent info can be found here.  There will be a meeting for athletes and parents on Thursday next week at about 5:30 to go over the travel and meet.  Both waivers should be printed and returned at the meeting with a check for the amount listed on the Room List Please make checks payable to: WSAC. Practice for the period between Y State and National has been posted.

3. 2014 WI YMCA State Meet  Was very successful.  The meet ran smoothly and the team raced to a championship which has not been done for sometime.  Follow the link to great Photos by Tom Michelson

2. The Annual Swim Team Banquet for Jrs and Srs will be on Sunday, May 4 at the Sheraton.  Sign up

5. Clinic Information:  The clinics being hosted at the WSAC during the break are all full at this point.  If you want to be placed on a waiting list please email Wendy at wfrank@wsacltd.org

6. Boilermaker Early Bird at Purdue - 27 have signed up already! Great turnout of swimmers/families for this meet. Room Information:  The team has reserved a block of rooms for the Boilermaker Senior Meet at Purdue, May 9-11.  The hotel is the Holiday Inn Lafayette - City Centre located about 2 miles from the Purdue campus.  Rooms are $119.99 + tax/night.  Families who want to reserve a room in the team block can do so by calling the Holiday Inn - City Centre at (765) 420-1505.  Our contact person is Andrea - tell her you are with the Schroeder Swim Team.  You must hold the room with an individual credit card.  The block will be open for parents to book a room until 4/9.  Please remember all swimmers must be supervised by an adult.  The coaches are not responsible for athlete supervision outside of the meet.  Swimmers are responsible for all of their transportation.

7. Resumption of training for (Schroeder North)  We will resume regular practice schedule on Monday 4/14.

8. The Annual Swim Team Banquet for Jrs and Srs will be on Sunday, May 4 at the Sheraton.  Sign up

9. The University of Schroeder will be racing this week and next:  D3 Al (Denison) and Sadie Nennig (Emory), Wes Manz (Kenyon), Caroline Bridges (DePauw) and D1 watch for Mitchell Friedemann (UAZ) (probable lead off for possible US Open Rec in Medleys)  Sami Pochowski (FSU) Also... Nate Cox (Purdue) - made it on 10 M!

• Congratulations to all Red, White and Blue Swimmers who competed in the Winter Session!
• The Spring Swim Session begins in April; Red, Blue or White Team rosters will be announced after April 24th.  (Note: your swimmer may be on a different team.)
• Schroeder Conference Meets are Thursdays in May:

5/8 = Red vs. Blue Teams

5/15 = Blue vs. White Teams

5/22 = Red vs. White Teams

5/29 = Conference Championship/Red vs. Blue vs. White Teams

• Blue Team has won the traveling trophy two times now.  Will Red or White Team win it next?  Stay tuned…!

Schroeder South

1. Schroeder South Tryouts This Week (3/25th, 26th, & 29th).

   Please Spread The Word to Friends and Neighbors!

        4500 paper flyers plus electronic info went to south side Milwaukee schools over the past few weeks to let families know about Schroeder South.  If you would like an electronic copy of the tryout flyer to pass on, please email Bob, rwhite@wsacltd.org or Ann, awhite@wsacltd.org.

        New swimmers must complete one length of the pool freestyle/backstroke, and can try out at any of the following three pools.  There’s also a new parent meeting going on while the kids are trying out:

a.) Deer Creek on Tues., 3/25 @6:00 p.m.

b.) Greendale on Wed., 3/26 @6:00 p.m.

c.) Pulaski County on Sat., 3/29 @9:30 a.m.

2. This Week’s Practices: for YMCA National Championship Qualifiers

• This week the YMCA National qualifiers have the pool to themselves.  Swimmers leave for Nationals in Greensboro, NC on Sunday, 3/30.  Schroeder has an amazing 27 swimmers participating, 9 from Schroeder South - Ashlyn Schoof, Katie Taylor, Carolyn Jungers, Kelly Howell, Holly Stoll, Claudia Kirkpatrick, Paige Carter, Rina Krupsky and Katie Hayes.  Good Luck to all!

• If practice is cancelled due to pool closure for any reason, the schedule will be updated immediately, and an email will be sent to each family.

3. Spring Session starts the week of April 7th:

Practice for the Spring Session begins the week of April 7th.  You can find your swimmer’s group for the session on your Team Unify account.  See you at the pool!

4. SSTY South Office Hours

        Coaches Ann White and Bob White can usually be reached by phone Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 8:30-11:30 AM.  You can call us at the SSTY South office (414-897-8932).  The best form of communication is to email us at: Ann awhite@wsacltd.org

5. Team Equipment Info:

        Team suits:  Now that our team is an official Speedo Team we have a Speedo team suit.  We would like all swimmers to wear a team suit when they compete in meets.  Swimmers are allowed to wear their present team suits but are asked to buy the official Speedo team suit when they are ready for a new meet suit.  Suits are available through Elsmore Swim Shop at the Schroeder Aquatic Center.  The kids can wear any suit they choose in practice.

      Coach Ann will have Schroeder swim caps and fins at practice.  If you need to buy one, check with her before or after practice.

6. SSTY South Lost and Found @Greendale Pool:

When caps, goggles, suits or fins with no name are left at any of the pools we practice at, the coaches bring them to the Greendale Pool and put them near the team bulletin board.  Please check to see if they belong to your swimmer(s).
