To The Duke of Miranda

Your Grace.

 

May I take the liberty of approaching you with the request that my Honoraria for the portraits I had the honour to paint of the Royal Family, may be settled at convenience?

 

Firstly may I mention the portrait now in Kensington Palace of Her Majesty The Queen,[1] which I was commanded to paint in the Summer of 1926 [11168]. The honorarium for this picture is five hundred ^pounds guineas.

 

During my stay last Spring in Madrid as Your Grace is aware, I was honoured by The Royal Command to paint The Royal Family

from among these portraits, it was my priviledge to offer the pictures of Their Majesties [12400][12398], as a momento of the Jubilee of His Majesty, to be placed in the Modern Gallery of Madrid.

 

The other portraits which I painted at the command of Their Majesties were The Infante Alfonso (in naval uniform) [8004] Infante Jaime [10852], Infante Juan [12015] & Infante Gonzalo [8014]. The Infantas Beatrice [8008] & Maria Christine [10854]. The Honorarium for each of these works is three hundred Guineas pounds

 

Lastly the portrait of His Excellency General Primo di Rivera [111272] is five hundred Guineas.

Luis María de Silva y Carvajal, I duque de Miranda, V conde de la Unión (1876-1935), Majordomo to King Alfonso XIII of Spain, whom he followed into exile.

Letter is numbered in another hand; the significance of this is unknown.
