Jesus’ Friends

The children will learn that Jesus chose his disciples to preach.  

  What did Jesus say to people?

  1. The teacher will ask the children: Who are their friends? Why are they your friends?
  2. The teacher will explain that Jesus also had friends.
  3. Read aloud “Jesus Friends.’
  4. Discuss story elements.

What makes a good friend?

  1. The teacher will talk to the children on how special they are.
  2. Talk how they are made different and special.
  3. Ask: How do you feel when other children think you are not special? Do you think is right for other children think that way? What would you do to stop the bullying.
  4. The teacher will read aloud “Chester Raccoon and the Big Bad Bully.”
  5. Ask the children bullying the following questions: What are some of the the behavior found in the book? How did Chester and his friend felt when they were bullied? What did they do to solve the problem? Do you think the parent did the right thing to confront the bully? What would you have done?
  6. Have the children make a “good friend” chain.
