Xenoblade Chronicles X Weapon Wizard Usage Guide
Skell setup:
A note on Skells - many Skell weapons will advance the RNG state once per frame while you are targeting an enemy. This makes hitting the specific RNG for weapon drops nearly impossible without some sort of perfect macro. It is advised to only equip weapons which do not advance the RNG state like this.
Almost all of the skells used in testing use the “Widebeam” shoulder weapon to kill the Visigels, with some Draw.OPENING-DMG and SpecUp.R-ATK. Drones in the other slot will also not advance any RNG, if you need a few more augment slots. Please test the setup and confirm that it reliably kills the Visigels in 1 hit.
To begin, you should download XCXWW from the link above and run it on your computer. When you run it, it should display a screen similar to this:
Right now, the tool needs to know your current RNG seed. If you have this already (say you rebooted your computer and wrote it down), then you can simply paste it in. If not, you will need to obtain your RNG seed.
Make sure that your Preferred Play Style is set to Offline Mode in the Online menu in Settings.
Remove your party members from the Active Members menu. Then, you will fast travel to the BLADE Barracks and remain perfectly still. Zoom the camera in all the way, and then save your game. Now close the Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition software and shut down your console by holding down the Switch’s power button, choosing “Power Options” and then “Turn Off”. Get a stopwatch ready, because you are now going to time yourself booting up your Switch (start as soon as you see the Nintendo logo), launching Xenoblade X and stop the timer when you hear the audio confirmation for pressing “Continue” in Xenoblade X. Set the stopwatch aside.
When the game loads, you will immediately open the pause menu and go to your Settings, where you will find the Voices menu at the bottom. In XCX DE, we have the ability to change the dub audio between English and Japanese. When you attempt to change dubs, you will get a prompt for the voice selection on your Cross. Conveniently, you can sample the voices by pressing Y - this will advance the RNG state by 1.
When you get the prompt to change to JP, you can select any voice and then change back to EN. On the menu to select the EN voice, you should sample the voices around 10 times and then record a Switch capture to clip the last 30 seconds of your gameplay. You can then open your Album and review the footage.
Press the voice buttons in XCXWW that correspond to the 10 voices you recorded in the order they played in your clip. Then, press “Find seed” and input the nearest second on the stopwatch (round the seconds to the nearest integer), and make sure to select the correct console (Switch 1/2). Wait a minute or two. When the seed is found, it should display a number as well as a “prediction” of the next voice clips that will play. You can now unsuspend your game and play a few more voice samples to verify the voice clips continue to play according to the prediction. Once the voice clips match, you will press “Apply”. If they do not match, you should start over from a fresh console boot, and perhaps record a few extra clips (e.g. 12-15 clips) and try that. In case the program closes, you should note down the RNG seed of your game, as it will not change until you close the game or load a save file. Congratulations, you’re halfway there.
Note: At any time, if you need to check your current state, you can open the Settings>Voices menu, swap between JP and EN dub, and use the voiceover samples to find the current RNG state. Simply input the last sequence you heard, and after 8-9 voices, you can click “Find state” and XCXWW will provide a prediction on the next voice clips. If the next voice clips match, the state is correct and you can press Apply. Note that before hitting Apply, though, you should add the voices you just heard and hit “Find state” again so it applies the exact RNG state you are currently in. For reference, any time this guide says to “obtain your RNG state”, it means performing these steps.
Now with your RNG seed found, you can head over to the Noctilucent Sphere in Sylvalum with your Skell. You can equip your most effective Class and party members* ideal for finding your desired weapon. Kill all of the enemies in the sphere but leave 1 Visigel alive. Pharsis does not necessarily call RNG, but if a Visigel is flying too close you may accidentally hit her with the Widebeam, which will ruin the setup.
* Party members tend to randomly advance the RNG when they make movement decisions or play certain animations (such as idle). For more consistency, consider running solo.
Position your Skell in front of the final Visigel, and wait for it to start moving* before you go into the Settings menu to obtain your RNG state.
* The reason you should wait for the Visigel to move is because they call RNG while turning, so if you wait for them to start moving prior to pausing the game, you save yourself a lot of headache should they happen to turn right as you are obtaining your weapons.
Once the RNG state has been obtained, you will want to close the settings menu and immediately target the Visigel and kill it with the Widebeam. Do not move the camera during the kill at all, as that will advance RNG unpredictably. It will drop a weapon, which you will now check the traits for and input into the search. Select one of the weapon dropdowns (it doesn’t matter which one) and select the weapon that it dropped, and add the traits that match this weapon, then hit “Search”. The search will show the nearby occurrences of said weapon relative to your RNG state, with the closest one very likely being the distance your Skell setup advances the RNG by. During testing, it was different from person to person, so doing this first kill is necessary for finding the distance that your Skell advances RNG by*. Once you know this, it should remain the same so long as you don’t change your build. Repeat this test a few times to ensure consistency. For future reference, this guide will refer to this distance as your “target offset”.
* The suspected cause for this value being different from person to person is speculated to be due to Skell augments. For some reason, equipping more types of augments seems to increase the amount of RNG advancements that your Skell makes when using an art.
You can now search for the weapon you want. In one of the Weapon search fields, select your desired weapon and add the desired traits, then hit Search. It will give you a result similar to the previous search, but the “Distance” will be a lot higher. This is the exact number of RNG calls you need to make before the game will roll this weapon. The value in brackets is the RNG state that the weapon drops at: You will need to be at this value minus your target offset, whatever that ended up being for you. For example, if your target offset is 15, and the weapon drops at [13,200,104], then you should advance your RNG to [13,200,089] before unpausing the game and killing the Visigel in the manner you did earlier. This is your final target.
Before starting, you should return to your Skell to reload the area and kill all of the enemies, once again leaving a single Visigel alive. Once that is done, you can start advancing RNG until you have reached your final target.
Repeatedly follow this step until you reach the final target.
Obtain your RNG state and check the Distance:
- If this value is over 500K, you should fly in circles and spin your camera around. Flying in circles will advance the RNG by around 600K per 20 seconds of flying. Repeat until under 500k.
- If this value is between 500K-100K, you can rapidly move the camera around. One full revolution of the camera might be 80-120K. During this phase, you should position yourself near the Visigel. Repeat until under 100K.
- (zoomed out) If this value is between 100K-50K, it is time to zoom in on your camera. Zoom in all the way, and make sure your horizontal positioning in the settings is set to Far Left or Far Right. The act of zooming in your camera will advance you by about 25-40K.
- (zoomed in) If this value is between 100K-20K, you can make small increments by turning your camera. Swipe the camera left and right a few times, and get a feel for how much doing this advances your RNG. Repeat until under or around 20K.
- If this value is 20K, it is time to finalize the setup. By now you should know how much your small camera or positional adjustments will advance your RNG by. Be careful not to overshoot the target. Get the Visigel into view, and make small adjustments until you are under 5K. This part requires a lot of patience, but if you overshoot you will need to restart from a higher value.
Under 5K and the final kill: From here, wait for the Visigel to start moving. It should be very close to you, and you should enter the Settings menu during its movement (NOT while it is stationary). Obtain your RNG state and advance your RNG 1 by 1 by manually pressing Y to sample the voices. You will have to press Y as many times as you need to get that final distance. If you want to risk it, you should get as close to your target as you can before entering the menu, but generally 5K is close enough for the more patient people.
In the last 100, you should regularly obtain your RNG state by inputting the voices into XCXWW and hitting “Find state”. Follow the predictions, ensuring everything is correct. When you are advancing it little by little like this, you can accurately find the state without needing to input 10 voices. Simply inputting 2-3 voices is good enough. When you are in the last 40 or so, you can just count one by one until you are at the final target. Reminder, your final target is NOT the number in brackets on the weapon search. It is that number minus your target offset. Once you have reached the final target, you can select the voice you want, unpause the game with “+” and immediately target and kill the Visigel. You must do this immediately, or you risk advancing the RNG by accident. Again, do not move the camera at all, as that will advance RNG. If you did everything right, it will give you the weapon you targeted. Congratulations on obtaining your weapon, and good luck!
XCXWW has been updated with a module for manipulating Division Rewards. The module can be accessed from the top right of the main window, and the pop-up window will have the Target Offset finder, but with different parameters for finding the desired amount of items. Currently, this tool only searches for a singular item dropping a certain number of times.
The distance must be 0 upon leaving the voice language menu and going to collect Division Rewards. If you haven’t unlocked all of the party members (for example, Mia) you will need to increase the “Missing party members” counter before searching.
Useful tip: Leaving and re-entering the blade barracks with your camera zoomed in only advances about 1.5-1.6k states. The barracks are extremely quiet in RNG advances, so for most purposes, getting the max amount of tensifiers each day should only take 5-10 minutes.
For Buchwald, it’s important that you kill all the Petramands that have spawned in your current location. Depending on where you return to Skell, a certain number of Petramands will spawn and they must be killed to correctly predict our RNG states. This doesn’t mean you have to kill all the petramands that can spawn in the whole cave, just the ones that spawn nearby.
A good position to have the Skell at is X: -38,22 Y: 68,48; that way, the Blattas next to Buchwald won’t spawn. After returning to Skell in that position, you should be at the current spot:
After this, you don’t have to move at all. Just jump and stay mid-air with your Skell like in the picture:
Following that, you can kill the Petramands (usually 5 at this location) with your weapon of choice that has the necessary range. M-Missiles are a good option (remember to unequip them when doing the Buchwald kill).
With only Buchwald in your field of view you can start doing the steps for manipulating the RNG states as usual. One of the weapons that can one-shot him and not cause RNG calls is Detonation Flail.

Volitaris is the area introduced in Chapter 13 Act 3. RNG behaves differently here - due to this, the setup is more convoluted. However, this is also the area that introduces 4-slot gear into the drop tables of enemies, making the gear desirable for RNG manipulation.
Note: There is a known issue with RNG manipulation in Volitaris that causes the RNG seed to be changed in some way while you are playing in Volitaris. This is unfortunately hard to predict and there is not yet a known way to avoid this happening. If RNG states become impossible to find, then you may need to save the game and re-obtain the RNG seed.
There is a constant RNG noise in Volitaris - meaning the RNG states become incredibly hard to target due to RNG being called every frame. However, there is a way: For some reason, when loading into Volitaris (either from entering it the first time or loading a save), the game will assign 5 in-game hours for the RNG to be quiet, starting from where you loaded in. For example, if your in-game time says 04:00 when loading in, then RNG will be quiet between the hours of 04:00-09:00 in-game. You can pause and use the time adjustment in the System menu to return to this quiet window if you happen to let time pass too much.
It is recommended, when obtaining the seed (in the next section), to save your game when the clock says 00:00, so the range will be clear.
The save setup here is the same as the barracks - remove your party members and fast travel to the Bridge, zoom all the way in, then save your game and power off your Switch/Switch 2 system. Next, power on your system and mash the A button to start the game and stop mashing after you’ve pressed ‘continue’ from the title screen. Now, just like with the barracks, you must go to the System > Settings > Voice Language menu, toggle your language, and record exactly 12 samples of the voice into XCXWW. Finally, you click “Find seed”, but this time you should select a seeds file. See below for downloading or generating one. After your seed is found, you should immediately apply it (even if the predicted voices do not match). Then, you can proceed to the specific enemy you would like to obtain drops from.

The range which the seeds are determined from in Volitaris isn’t as consistent as it is in the regular barracks. It’s not as simple as guessing where the seed will be from the boot time, as Volitaris can be a bit more unpredictable. As such, we have a precomputed file of seeds that the program can search and match your seed to. This is equivalent to letting the program search for hours, but since it doesn’t have to do any computation and simply scans the file, it’s much quicker.
To generate this file, you can click on “Find seed” in XCXWW and enter a range of seeds to precompute, as well as the location you are precomputing from.
For Nintendo Switch 2 in Volitaris, a good amount is 600 million to 800 million. However, be warned that this generates a very large file (close to 440MB per 100 million seeds searched) and also takes a long time to compute.
Please note, however, if you are unable to find the correct setup
Each enemy is unique in their setup, offset, and obviously their drops. Most enemies in Volitaris that can be manipulated are included in the tool. However, it’s important to follow these guidelines for getting a working setup:
- Like the Visigel setup, you should do several trial runs and ensure the offset is consistent.
- All of the surrounding enemies should be killed before you attempt the RNG manipulated kill.
- Some enemies (such as Xedoms) can ignore your Skell’s cloaking augments and target you when you change your voice language (even if the resulting language and voice selection is the same as the one selected prior to opening the settings menu, changing it back and forth between Japanese and English will still cause this problem).
- Some areas are more prone to RNG corruption. If you notice you tend to lose the ability to find your seed often, you might find more success in an enemy that’s somewhere else on the map.
Please see below for some details on each enemy that can be farmed in Volitaris.

Hammurabi will not call RNG while playing their idle animation. Requires all the visible mechs flying around to be defeated, which includes six oc-servs and a couple of qmoevas and seidrs. Fortunately, this place being high up despawns many of them already.
