PEU Program Coordinator Calendar

*May not apply to all programs

At the Beginning of Each Semester:

*Select OSU Supervisors for student teaching placements according to procedures. Online training and the Handbook for OSU Supervisors, Cooperating Teachers and Principals explaining PEU requirements are available here. Notify the Cooperating Teachers working with your program’s student teachers of the PEU Handbook for Supervisors, Cooperating Teachers, and Principals. Provide them with program-specific instructions and expectations as well.

Communicate directly with supervisors and cooperating school personnel to provide program-specific instructions and expectations. Communicate with the Field Experience office to insure all placement data are submitted to the OSUPEU database.

Check with your program faculty to make sure the use of assessments and data collection for program approval processes (SPA, NCATE, OSRHE) are in place for appropriate courses. Initial programs use a common student teaching evaluation and portfolio rubric across the PEU. Both Initial and Advanced programs use a common Admission to Professional Education application, dispositions assessment, and completer and employer surveys. All common data is collected in a web-based format and stored in the OSU PEU database to facilitate regular reporting and accreditation processes.

*Have your faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants/associates who are teaching field experience or clinical practice courses review and post the Syllabus Attachment for Field Experience and Clinical Practice Courses in appropriate courses.

*Remind program faculty and students of upcoming Portfolio deadlines and training sessions (add to syllabus as another reminder).

Make sure ALL new students in your program have completed the Application for Admission to Professional Education as they enter the program. This is their initial entry into the OSUPEU database, and without it, our report numbers are not correct and their progress toward certification could be delayed.

The PEC Field Experience committee meets to consider any Out-of-Area/Out-of-State field experience requests.

The PEC Student Affairs committee meets to consider candidate appeals related to Professional Education experiences or placements.

Remind your program faculty of the OSRHE 10-hour rule for all professional education faculty. This is based on a calendar year and turned in via web-based form in January. A list will be provided to clarify exactly which faculty fall under this State statute.
