Mr. László de Siklóssy, LL.D.,

Strand Palace Hotel,

London, W.C.2.

My dear Friend,

I wish to thank you for your letter of yesterday. Be assured it was a great pleasure to me to be able to show some hospitality the other day, and I deeply regret that circumstances are such that I have to go away while you are here. I shall be back from America by the beginning of February, and if you are still here I should be glad to see you. If you have to write to me, please address your letter to the Plaza Hotel, Fifth Avenue, New York.

I also wish to thank you for the most interesting book you have kindly sent to me: “Europe on the parting of the ways, War or Peace?” As soon as time allows I shall read it with enjoyment.

I do hope that your “sejour” here in London will be successful, and in the event of our being able to carry out our intention of visiting Budapest on our way back from our holiday, I shall look forward to seeing more of you then.

The parcel of photographs after my portraits has been sent to Budapest.

With kind regards,

Believe me,

Ever yours,

5th Dec. 1933.

Dear and much respected Friend,

I am infinitely grateful to you for the time I was able to spend with you yesterday, enjoying the magic of your personality and your environment. I reproach myself somewhat with the idea that perhaps I stayed too long: after all, I am aware that you are about to go away.

With this letter I am sending you a copy of the publication of ours that I mentioned, entitled “Europe on the parting of the ways, War or Peace?” For now, of course, you may safely put it aside, but on your return in the spring – and after we have seen each other in Budapest – you might like to have a look at it. I am afraid that it will still be relevant.

With very best wishes,

Your old and fervent admirer,

László Siklóssy
