Welcome to the ItaFushi Big Bang 2026!

We acknowledge other popular pairings exist within the fandom, but because this is a Yuuji/Megumi specific event we are asking that participants make them the primary ship and refrain from including incest and underage content. All graphic sexual content and/or violence (if you choose to include it) must be involving 18+ characters, just as all participants must be 18+ to participate. We are asking this to keep the peace, as we’ve seen how tense these scenarios can get firsthand in other events and would like to avoid it. Mentioning it in passing is different from exploitation. If you have an element in your story that you want clarification on, don’t be afraid to ask. THIS IS NOT A FIXED SHIP BANG.

That being said, artists who are not comfortable with having their name attached to a NSFW/explicit rating work can have the option to request SFW fics only. Getting paired with a NSFW fic does not mean that you have to depict anything explicit or graphic, but we understand the desire to only want to create art for a certain rating.

Mods:

Void (@transgumi), Nat (@nanamis_wife13), and Whitney (@whitster_lizzy)

Authors:

Your objective for this bang is to create a brand new or previously unpublished fic that centers around the ItaFushi ship. The possibilities are endless, so long as the ItaFushi pairing is the main relationship in the plot.

You will be expected to write a 250-500 word snippet, general summary of the plot, fic rating, and all the tags that will be used for the fic before art claims. These snippets and plot summaries will be entirely anonymous. During art claims, artists will get a chance to review these and pick the fics that interest them the most. Writers and artists are then paired together for the remainder of the bang.

All fic submissions must be a minimum of 5k words. It’s up to you whether or not you think you’re capable of doing more by deadline. That being said, long fics are welcome! As long as you meet the check-ins on time, the fic can be as long as you want, but in order to start posting in the month of October, we are trying to set a realistic word count for everyone. By participating in the matching process, you are agreeing to submit one finished ItaFushi fic of at least 5k length. If you are unable to do so and drop out after art claims, a pinch-hit author will be assigned to your artist, and you will be barred from the collection and the next round of the event.

All ratings are acceptable—from general audience to explicit.

As far as other ships are concerned, background ships are allowed, as well as other ships involving Itadori Yuuji and Fushiguro Megumi, so long as Yuuji and Megumi are the primary ship and endgame. Happy/sad/whatever endings are acceptable, so long as they are together.

Co-writing is allowed, but you may only submit one fic in total. Both authors will need to sign up separately.

You may sign up as an author and an artist, but you will not be permitted to make art for your own fic.

All fics must be posted on Ao3 in English, added to the ItaFushi Big Bang collection, and that fic must be beta read and properly edited before posting. No excuses for this! If you have your own beta, great! If you do not have a beta, we will do our best to match you with one. We want your fics to be the best they can be, which might mean stealing another pair of eyes.

All fics posted to Ao3 will be required to mention and link the artist’s Twitter, Tumblr, or other preferred hosting site, which must be included in the author’s note.

DROPS: If you drop out before teams are matched, there is no penalty. If you drop out after matching, you will be removed from the bang and your fic will not be added to the Ao3 collection. You will also be banned from the next round of the ItaFushi Big Bang.

Artists:

Artists will be granted one fic in the first round of pairings. After all artists have been assigned one partner, artists may opt to be assigned to a second partner if there are any left to be claimed. As with many bangs, we imagine that there will be more authors than artists. We would appreciate it if you could spread the word to your artist friends and consider being matched with two authors 💓 Pinch-hitters are encouraged and welcome!!!

By participating in the matching process, artists are agreeing to create a minimum of one (1) piece of artwork. Artists may create more art if they’re inspired to and time permits it, but they are not required to do so. Please ensure that if you claim more than one pinch-hit, that you have time to create the art for each one. Additional text separators and icons are welcome, but do not count toward the minimum.

All artwork must be your own original artwork created specifically in response to the claimed fic, and may be created using either digital or traditional media (no AI art). Certain Photomanips will be allowed, but they need to be more than screenshots with text or a basic filter. Collages are not included under the umbrella of “digital art”, and as such will not be counted. If you are unsure, please ask the mods via email or Discord.

Icons, dividers, collages, playlists, and videos are not being accepted as art for this challenge, however, if artists wish to create any of these in addition to their required pieces, they are, of course, welcome to do so.

At check-ins, the artist will submit their progress via Google check-in doc. This is mandatory. Failure to submit progress/communicate with mods will result in a pinch-hitter being assigned and the artist being barred from the current and next round of the ItaFushi Big Bang.

Authors will be responsible for embedding the art in their fic on Ao3, which means that the artist must keep in regular contact and send their author the completed art (and preferred hosting site, if applicable) on time!

All art submitted must be of finished quality and reflect your best efforts at creating something to fit the story you have chosen. We recommend finding an art beta and/or consulting with your fellow artists in the bang for feedback and encouragement during your process.

Upon completion and posting, authors may not commission another artist for artwork for their ItaFushi Big Bang fic. The same artist that is paired with the same author is free to make additional artwork for that fic past the posting date, it just won’t be part of the official Big Bang posting.

DROPS: If you drop out before teams are matched, there is no penalty. If you drop out after matching, you will be removed from the bang and your art will not be added to the Ao3 collection. You will also be banned from the next round of the ItaFushi Big Bang.

Betas:

We will attempt to match you to an appropriate fic based on your preferences. There is no guarantee of fic availability for beta-ing, as authors are not required to use an ItaFushi Big Bang beta.

GENERAL RULES:

Disqualification is a thing and the mods reserve the right to disqualify you for any of the following reasons:

—No bullying! If you experience this from your partner, other members (even a mod!!), please DM one of the mods so this can be addressed promptly.

—No fighting about who tops and bottoms. Seriously. Don’t piss me off.

—Racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, hate-speech, transphobia, etc.

—You cannot have the mods blocked on Discord or the official Bang account on socials, we’re here to work with you and advertise your finished fic.

—Not reading the rules, disregarding rules that you don’t like, and/or failing to follow them. If you’re unsure of a rule or requirement, just ask. Seriously. It’s that easy! The mods are here to work with you, and we will happily clear up any confusion or questions you may have.

—Failing to submit mod check-ins/complete the stated requirements for your fic or art.

—Failing to communicate with your author/artist and work together as a team. If you go missing/ghost and do not communicate with your teammate (or the mods, as needed) you will be disqualified and a pinch hitter will be assigned if one is available.

—Usage of AI for either writing or art will be an automatic disqualification.

There simply may not be enough artists/authors to assign a pinch-hitter if there are too many dropouts. All attempts will be made to find and assign pinch-hitters.

All uploaded fics should be added to the collection on Ao3 upon posting. The collection will be available to access starting October 1st, 2026. If fics are multi-chaptered, you have the option to post the entire fic at once, OR post throughout the month of October. However, the fic should be 100% posted by October 31st at the latest.

We will promo your fic on Tumblr/Twitter on your posting date. Depending on how many fics we have, we will space posting accordingly. You will need to submit to us your formatted Tumblr post the day before/of your posting date; template information will be provided.

Thank you for joining us for our first year of the ItaFushi Big Bang, have a marvelous time 💓

Art Draft Details:

There are two check-ins during which artists will be expected to supply drafts.

On July 1st artists must submit work-in-progress screen captures of their one required piece. These can be as simple as sketches or rough outlines, but must show that you have been working on your piece(s) by this date. If you are creating art for more than one fic, you must provide the WIP proof for all of them at this time!

On August 15th artists must submit screen captures showing rough drafts of their piece. Artists may continue to work on their piece(s) up until their posting date, but artists should be well beyond the outline stage by this date. If you are creating art for more than one fic, you must provide the WIP proof for all of them at this time!

On September 28th – All art is due today. Artists may continue tweaking after this, but a finished art piece MUST be submitted at this time. There will be no exceptions, and a pinch-hitter will immediately be assigned if guidelines are not met.

Failure to submit drafts by the due date will be taken as an unannounced drop out, and a pinch-hitter artist will be assigned to your author if one is available. Pinch-hitters are often tough to find and time is valuable, PLEASE give us the heads-up if you need to do an unplanned drop, in fairness to your author. Or PLEASE communicate with us if the art is going to be late. We are very understanding and just ask that you let us know ahead of time/keep us in the loop!

Fic Draft Details:

On July 1st authors must submit a readable link to your WIP draft or provide it via attachment proving 50% progress. Since the ItaFushi Big Bang minimum word count is 5000, all submissions must be at least 2500 words at this time. However, the 50% marker is for your projected word count, not the Bang minimum. If you are writing over 5k, you must give us your projected word count and 50% of that in draft form.

Example: If you are projecting 20k words, you must provide 10k at this check-in.

We are aware that exact word counts are not always possible to predict, so we are counting on your good-faith relative projection. Mods may check-in if there are concerns about word count/progress. If guidelines are not met, a pinch-hitter may be assigned.

On August 15th authors must submit a readable link to your WIP draft or provide it via attachment proving 75% progress. The same rules apply as with the previous check-in—this is 75% of YOUR projected word count, but absolutely no less than 3750. If guidelines are not met, a pinch-hitter may be assigned.

PLEASE communicate early with the mod team if there are any issues that we can help you resolve in order to achieve your goals and make this an amazing bang for everyone!

September 28th – This is not a check-in, it is a due date! All fics and all art are due today. Authors may continue tweaking and do final SPAG after this, but the 5k minimum (or your projected word count) and a finished story MUST be submitted at this time. There will be no exceptions, and a pinch-hitter will immediately be assigned if guidelines are not met.

A template will be posted in the Discord showing how to format your Tumblr/Twitter posts for promo closer to the due date.
