New Course Begins This Fall:  GEO 2810/4810: Exploring Our World Through Geospatial Science (Cross-listed with GEOG 2810/4810) Instructors: Eric Ewert, PhD (Geography) & Michael Hernandez, PhD (Geosciences) Exciting and new introductory course that introduces the capabilities of geospatial science and technology across professions, including geology, geography, local government, medicine, K-12 education, and many more! No prerequisites! Hands-on assignments! Geosciences and Geography departments will accept the course as electives in respective majors!! Seniors & Juniors Mark Your Calendars:  Geoscience Advisory Council members Jessica Castleton (UGS) and Chris Howell (Aecom) will make a presentation on Monday, March 23, 10:30 am, titled "What Geoscience Students Need to Know About Professional Licensing (PG) In Utah and About Membership in the Utah Geological Association." Jessica and Chris are WSU Geoscience alumni and they will share their experiences in preparing for and taking the national Fundamental​s​ of Geology exam that is part of the licensing process in Utah. The UGA is sponsoring a ​free ​catered lunch for participants following the talk. The location of this special presentation is TBD -- look for flyers around the Department.

Hulet Round River Scholarship: Applications are now being accepted in the Botany Department for the Round River Study Abroad Program trip with the Taku River Wildlife Project in Tlingit Territory, British Columbia.​  Applications are due by 5:00pm, Monday, March 23.  Please see the attached flyer for full information.

AEG Meeting Announcement: The Intermountain Section of the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists invites you to attend the presentation, ​"Large Liquefaction Features and Evidence for 4 Earthquakes Induced by Lake Bonneville in Cache Valley: A Progress Report," by Susanne U. Janecke on March 19, 2015.  It will take place at the Citrus Grill (3977 S Wasatch Blvd, SLC). ​R.S.V.P. is requested. ​​Full information is on the attached flyer.

Summer Job Fair: The Summer Job Fair will take place Wednesday, March 18, 2015, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Shepherd Union Building Atrium.  This is the perfect opportunity to connect with employers and learn about summer job possibilities in the community. It will bring organizations seeking students to fill part-time, full-time, and internship positions with their companies. For full information, please visit their website here.

Student Judges Needed for WSU Science Fair:  There is a great need for judges for the upcoming Ritchey Junior Science & Engineering Fair, Thursday, March 19, Noon to 4 pm, Dee Event Center. No experience necessary. This is a great service opportunity that promotes science literacy in the community and encourages the next generation of scientists and engineers.
