Dear Friend,

Thank you for your letter: I am very glad that you will be honouring the première of the Hungarian film with your presence on the 23rd of April.^[1] I am sending two tickets to your son Paul^[2] and with your kind permission I enclose with this

another 2 tickets, in case there is anyone else from your family whom you would like to bring.

I unfortunately cannot be present at the première at the Royal Geographical Society because I am travelling to Stratford on Monday for the Shakespeare festival.

Please pass on my regards to your wife.^[3]

Köszönöm leveledet és nagyon örülök, hogy a magyar film április 23-i bemutatóját is megtisztelitek jelenlétetekkel. Paul fiadnak egyidejűleg küldök két db. jegyet és szíves engedelmeddel még ide

is mellékelek ugyancsak 2 db. jegyet, ha esetleg kedves családodból még valakit magaddal óhajtanál hozni.

Én sajnos nem lehetek jelen a Ryl [sic] Geographical Society bemutatóján mert hétfőn a Shakespeare ünnepélyre Stratford-ba utazom.

László Bárdossy (1890–1946) was working at the Hungarian Legation in London at the time this letter was written. In 1941 he became Prime Minister of Hungary. His career was a controversial one. In 1946 he was tried by a people’s tribunal, condemned to death and executed by firing squad.
