Today is the day! The Class of 2018 is currently hosting the Blood Drive in the auxiliary gym. Stop by the auxiliary gym at your designated time if you signed up, or stop by if you missed sign ups but would still like to donate. All donors will receive a $5 gift card to subway. Observe: Fleas on a pea dodging debris next to the Baltic sea sayin' gee while sippin' tea buying three keys for free at Philosophy club in D121 this Thursday right after school. Woo!

 

Congratulations to Sophomore Wrestlers Jacob Boumans, Denis Murphy, Koshal Shah and Roberto Pena in qualifying for the IWCOA Frosh/Soph State Tournament.

This past weekend Boumans won state championship at 160 lbs. and Murphy took 2nd at 126 lbs.

BSA Black History Moment: James Weldon Johnson was the first African American to pass the bar exam in Florida in 1897. The Road to State continues for the Neuqua Valley Speech Team who earned a 4th place team victory at Downers Grove South on Feb. 11. Good luck to Sectional Winners: Archit Dhar, Zach Honer, and Dillon Tartaglia, who will, along with state qualifiers: Tejas Gajula, Diti Kohli, Roshni Koul, be competing in Peoria this weekend.

Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong was born on August 4, 1901 in New Orleans. Most notably known for "What a Wonderful World", this trumpet virtuoso and raspy jazz singer influenced both the popular and jazz music world. He passed away on July 6, 1971.

It is here! Variety Show 2017 is this weekend! Amazing student acts will be on display. There are three performances: Friday at 7:00p.m. Saturday at 2:30p.m. and 7:00 p.m. You can purchase tickets all week during lunch periods in front of the rotunda and remaining tickets before each show. Tickets are $10.

Neuqua Valley speech won its 8th regional victory over the past nine years, with all 14 individual events making it through to Sectionals next week. The afternoon was highlighted by nine regional winners including Archit Dhar, Alex Shura, Dillon Tartaglia, Zach Honer, Roshni Koul, Diti Kohli, Tejas Gajula, Amrit Maan, and Alex Warner.

The Neuqua Valley Orchesis Dance Company will hold their annual showcase on Feb.  3rd at 7pm and Feb. 4th at 2:30pm and 7pm in the auditorium. Ticket sales are during option periods, $5 for students and $12 for adults. Come out to see these talented dancers take the stage!

 It's Black History Month! Known as Taraji, Janelle, and Octavia, these Hidden Figures represent Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, and Dorothy Vaughn of NASA's West Computers.These African-American women were human computers who performed math equations by hand and were instrumental in the calculations of flights such as John Glenn's orbit in 1962.

Operation Snowball is coming soon, April 7,8 & 9 and April 21,22 & 23. Students from all 5 area schools attend. Snowball is 3 days away from home & school!  Activities include; lots of games, amazing presentations, a no talent/talent show and a dance party! Applications are  in all class houses. See Mrs Marple at the freshman building for questions.

Last Friday, both of our Special Olympic basketball teams beat the Waubonsie Warriors by one point at the buzzer! Way to go Wildcats! Our teams also took home silver & bronze at the state qualifiers on Sunday.

Your Park District Youth Ambassadors are hosting a Dodgeball Tournament. We are looking for the best dodgeball teams to compete against those from Naperville Central, North, Waubonsee, and Metea. Student Council Winter Accessory Drive.  Donate new or slightly used children’s winter accessory items like gloves, scarves, or hats to families in District 204! Bring the items to the rotunda at either building today and tomorrow  of this week to get a free cup of hot chocolate!

The Outdoor Club will be going to Knoch Knolls Park in Naperville to play Frisbee Golf on Thursday, September  22nd after school. We will be meeting in the Knoch Knolls parking lot at 3:00 pm. Any person traveling to Indy this Friday to the Varsity football game, pre-sale tickets can be purchased in the athletic office Thursday. Presale tickets are $5.00 for students & adults. $7 at the gate. The game will be played at St. Lawrence North HS  at 7PM Indy time.

Nominate reps from your class for homecoming court! Nominations are online one day only - today, Wednesday, August 31st!

The 2015-16 yearbooks have been distributed! See Mrs. Mullany in the rotunda by Friday, September 1 if you ordered a book. Unclaimed books will be made available for purchase to others. Email Ms. Jakubas with questions.

All athletes interested in girls basketball, that are currently NOT in a fall sport, should attend an informational meeting this Thursday at 2:45 p.m. in the large forum room (C202) at the Main building.  Any questions please contact Coach Mike Williams.

The 2016-2017 Robotics Team is looking for applicants for this season's competition - StarStruck. This year's team will have seven robots and over 40 students. For more information join us at our information meeting on Thursday, September 1st at C107 in the main building at 2:45pm. For more information go to nvrobotics.org.

Fall intramural sign ups are open. Intramurals include boys and girls flag football, badminton, table tennis, and rock climbing. Get a team together and go to NVHS intrramurals.com to sign up.  

Today is the last day for juniors to submit parking applications for the lottery. No applications will be accepted after today. Results will be posted outside the Junior Class House on September 6. Good luck!

Any senior who purchased a parking permit needs to pick up their permit in the Junior Class House and display it on their car. Cars without permit stickers on will be stickered.
