The Ninth World Turns Recap #009 - Queb Down
Campaign Day 001
XP: Everyone has 1 xp from discovering the machine
The Diruk had received some heavy hits that left the guards elated despite knowing they were at a disadvantage from the continued presence of the Glow. The Queb coiled after missing their blows, they did not know why the room glowed with a dim blueness, nor why their enemies glowed neon, but they suspected something was amiss from how easily their attacks had been avoided.
Actions:
Jay Zin
Focusing on the forred serpentine creatures Jay Zin was barely aware of the fact that he was answering the Mechanus' Questions. There was nothing he could do about it now... and Azzuretta's new rocky Boyfriend needed help.
Yes I can see... I have reservations if your'e really an ally. Something about you is just off, Azzuretta does not belong to any one she's free to do what she wants, She's from Ledon where she helped raise me, so obviously I'm from there too... and I find the weather to be a little too dry this far inland... I really miss the frequent rainstorms coming in off the ocean. Oh and the fish... there's no good seafood this far inland.
Did I just tell them that? Well it's the truth so no harm done.
Jay Zin steps upto the Heavily armored man knowing that 'rocky' over there needed some help. He swung low and brought a leg around his body and sweeped it through the mans legs. He found it amazing that at his heightened speed he could see the man fold up at the waist while he was still in the air, for what seemed a second both his head and feet were pointed at the ceiling before he came tumbling down to the ground. He knew that in all that armor, the man was most likely unhurt, but he would be unable to attack Basai for a moment.
Jay Zin hits Guard2, using the “knock down” rules on pg. 113 - no damage dealt, but enemy is prone.
Azzuretta didn't really know how to react to Jay Zin's new condition... she was too busy thinking about lunch... Focusing on the two Quebs... that actually seemed to have a thought or two of their own, although primitive, not as advanced as her own, or even the simple humans, she tried do determine which of the creature's she had decided to name lunch and breakfast, was closer to dying. bite (2dmg): 1d20 ⇒ 8 Hit Queb2 for 1 damage
Daks, with his back to Basai, continued his assault on the first Queb, not noticing his teammates pain. I'll have to watch myself. It almost got me with its tail. Thank goodness for this paint. He thought, as he sent more sparks running down the blade. Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Daks swings his blade upward, slicing into the beast's neck. The monster arched his head back, as it reeled back in pain. Hit Queb1 for 4 dmg.
Breona
Satisfied with the outcome of her use of the root spike, Breona saw that Daks had the queb well in hand. However, things still appeared to look rough, as the rock creature who had offered to be their shield was being attacked on all fronts. The guards seemed to know where to hurt hir the worst.
Drawing her crossbow again, Breona checked that it was still loaded and then changed her position. If she was to assist Basai, she needed a clearer line of sight of hir attackers.
Once she was at her new position, she carefully aimed at the queb right in front of Basai, hoping she'd be able to shoot past Azuretta.
Pierce: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Moving Breona to A6, shooting at queb at D5. Hit Queb2 for 4 damage
Mechanus
Keeping his eyes on both Jay Zin and the creatures, Mechanus could not feel but cocky about his implants. No wonder someone wants them back.
He once more willed his hand to charge with energy and felt the telltale sign of his palm tingling, ready to discharge.
His lens painted another bullseye on the queb's head and Mechanus' arm started to hurt from the pent up energy.
The energy gushed forth and exploded into the queb.
______________
attack a queb if still alive, if not attack one of the guards
onslaught: 1d20 ⇒ 19, that's an extra 3 points of damage for a total of 7 - armor
<Minor Effect>As your combat display scanned the field, you saw clearly that both of the Queb were barely hanging on to life. You knew clearly that if you split your efforts both Queb could be terminated. Instead of running all your energy through your hand, you held half of the attack back in reserve. Blasting each Queb with just enough force to kill it. Hit Queb 1 for 1 dmg, Queb 2 for 2 dmg.
Basai
Shi hated those spears with a deep and unrelenting passion. They were designed to pierce rock and so pierced hir, driving deep into hir hide making hir cry out in pain. It was a high pitched sound, grating on the ears, as shi stumbled back from the attack, set off balance by the Queb at her feet. Still, the guards were focused on hir and not hir comrades... it was buying them time. Hir fist smarted where the minerals had been ground off, puffs of steam emanating from hir as shi regarded the guards warily. Hir colours were flickering from red to grey as hir side leaked molten rock and cooled, hissing. They'd struck deeply.
Flexing, Basai roared at the guards and rolled hir shoulders, hunkering down into a defensive position. The oozing rock hardened quickly enough, though it was still soft and gave off quite a bit of hit. They knew hir weak spots well... Then shi remembered the pill shi'd picked up before and fished it out of a crack in hir side the guards had made wider and smushed it into the orifice on hir chest, the plates covering the opening separating long enough for a blast of heat to warp the air a few inches in front of hir. Immediately the crystals around the opening began to heal, their tops coming to points – whatever shi'd put in her was having a positive effect.
Shi was only glad it did... Beside hir, the Queb took another hit and someone's leg came arcing around to sweep the armored man off his feet. Disused to such close-quarters support, Basai felt a surge of elation as shi held a hand up in a bit of a wave for thanks.
Used Speed Heal. Recover 1 Might/Minute for the next hour. I'm assuming Speed Heal works like a HoT – it won't heal past max but the HoT ticks each minute, restoring Might if there is Might to restore. Am I wrong? That is how I am using it also. I will apply the first heal ‘tic’ instantly, bringing you from 6/14 to 7/14. Using any cypher is an Action, so it will take the full turn to activate.
Additionally now Guarding if possible in the same turn.
Guard 1: After seeing both the Queb killed in one round of combat, and his friend felled, an easy target lying prone on the ground, the remaining standing guard made a run for the Compound.
Daks & Basai - Please make a Difficulty 4 Speed test to get an attack of opportunity as he runs this will not count as your action.
Chase Rules - Difficulty 4 Speed check to “catch” the runner. If you catch, you can also make an Action:Attack.
Note: You may apply the Glow effects to these two Difficulty 4 checks, making the tasks Difficulty 1-3 depending on which of you it is.
Guard 2: uses his action to stand up, all attacks against him this round have an asset to hit.
